Pretty sharp dude! Was a blast to build and mod wasn't it?!? I love the landing lights with the retract system! I've got to get my light kit install into my Bell 206 while the mechs are out.

Awesome, awesome heli, bro! A scale bird to be very proud of. For the lighting wires I just place them where I want them & use a drop of hot glue to hold them down . Can't wait for the maiden video. ;D

Hot glue, great idea...didn't think of it at the time but I will keep that in mind for the next project. Thanks again guys!

Hey Andrew, Been away for a while. Just read over all your build updates. Looks awesome by the way..I love flying and just looking at mine and it's only the bare bones fuselage but yours, WOW it is by far beautiful. Love the landing lights! Anyway, earlier in the thread I was having issues with my landing gear and thought i had them worked out but I'm going through landing gear HELL as some would say at the local flying fields. I can't get a good consistant lock that is dependable. Sometimes they lock perfect other times they collapse. Anyway I called RCA and there's a new set of instructions that you and I did't get with our kits. It explains how to setup the retracts for 2 servos. I think this will help me out. didn't know if you had any issues with yours and thought I'd post the newest instructions for anyone else that may read this and have the same issues I have. Which speaking of this, how's your gear working any issues? Tried to attach the full file but, was too large. The attachment is the few pages that explain the extra servo. Attachments:

Thanks for the comments Jesses....As for the retracts, yes a bit of trying to figure out how to set/position it so that it'll go all the way back into the fuse and then out to the lock position. I actually thought I had it just right but after the video I did when I try and put the whole thing down to the ground, the retracts folded itself back into the fuse so I must of not got it correct. Anyways, thats one of the small things I need to work out before my maiden. As soon as I figure it out, I will post here to share but meanwhile I'll take a look at the updated option of using dual servos. Thanks.....

Ok...think I got the retracts re-figured out and seems to be working fine at this point. I will try and go for the maiden this weekend! Meanwhile, I am thinking of making the rocket launcher for the belly.....

After a long awaited finish of my Airwolf getting airborne, here is the maiden flight video. Nothing too exciting, just your basic hovering making sure the thing will actually fly...LOL. A little vibration I need to look into and also I will need to swap out the springs on the retracts as I feel they're just too soft for the weight of the bird. Meanwhile, enjoy.....

Let me the first to say......WELL DONE!. It looks and sounds great. The shocks seem a bit weak alright I got a bit worried at the take off! Where are you getting the vibs? I remember on mine I put an extra bracket on top of the frame on each side that went out and was screwed to the top of the fuse using the same screws that held the top cover in. Yours might be different though but that's what I had to do as the fuse had vibs due to being only held in by the base. Again well done you have it ready for the hols.

Thanks guys! It was almost a relief that it's finally done despite there are things I still want to do/add to it. Namely like the "rocket launcher" and been thinking to actually make it work by adding model rocket engines in it and firing it off...LOL. The other thing I been thinking of doing is (sounds crazy....but) to add an EDF on each side of the intake ports but not just for the looks cause otherwise I can just add some non-functional fans. I want them to actually work as they will move air through and out the back but we'll see, it's alot to think about plus one of the issues I came across are the rear retracts...they're in the way of a clean exit from the intake ports to the back exit opening. Plus I would have to try and figure out how to wire in the seperate ESCs to run the EDFs. Options would be maybe tie it in with the existing ESC or run it as a stand alone and have a seperate switch to turn it on and off. Well....all these additional options to be added on certainly would be cool but reality is that it takes time and money to make them happen so it will sit in the back burner for the time being. @joe, thanks for the comments. Until you've mentioned about adding the extra brace, I realized that there is some flexing between the mech. and the top of the fuse. I am guessing that this is caused by the way that the fuse is constructed, I've also seen in another forum that others have used the same method of adding a brace/brackets to help stop the vibration. I 've also notice that there is a tiny bit of wobble on the main rotor head when I spun it up w/o the blades just as a test last night after I got home. Not sure why, I am guessing it could of been from an old crash but never really noticed it before...guess I'll have to pull the mech back out to replace the main shaft... @chris, yeah...thanks buddy...I do love that realistic sound of a real chopper. My 600 always sounded like that, I am thinking it's cause it has a fairly low HS. Seeing her airborne for the first time sure was a joy to say the less but I gotta tell ya...I was a nervous wreck! All I could think of is please don't crash...please don't crash...LOL. The extra time I'll spend on replacing the main shaft and adding extra brace/brackets to help support the fuse to the mech will hopefully result in a much smoother bird. I will also be replacing the springs on the retracts for some harder ones to take the load better.
