Hi Guys I am quite new to this RC Heli hobby – started with coaxial and moved on to small 4 channel. Came across this site and really like the Chaos Helis. I have a few questions though… 1. What is the difference between 450 Pro Super Combo and 450 Pro? 2. It seems as if one has to buy batteries and Radio Control separate for the above kits. On the forums the Spektrum name comes up – quite expensive. Will the Walkera DEVO 8S 8-Channel 2.4 Ghz Digital Radio System also work with electronics that comes with the 450’s? 3. Can these radios be paired with 3 channel and four channel helis? Thanks!

Can these radios be paired with 3 channel and four channel helis? Thanks! First off....WELCOME to the Lounge! 1. The differences between the 450 Pro and 450 Pro Super Combo is that the super combo comes with all the electronics except for a battery (lipo) and the radio system (Rx and Tx) in order to fly. 2. Spektrum is reguarded to a certain radio system brand which includes "JR, Futaba and Spektrum". The Walkera DEVO is another brand of a radio system. Technically you can use any radio system with it's own matching receiver and transmitter to fly the 450's as long as there are enough channels provided. For example, most CP rc helis will require a 6 channel radio system. 3. Most of the 3 and 4 channel helis I 've seen usually includes their own radio systems.

I am not the expert so please do not take everything I say as the gospel
I do not know of any radios that will pair with any of the 3 channel helicopters unless Blade makes some. You can bind Spektrum radios to most if not all Blade products that are using the DSM2/DSMX protocols. That said I am not a Spektrum fan as my ground Spektrum radio sucks (and their ground/air radios could be worlds apart for all I know). I use a Hitec A9 for my planes and Helicopters.
The radios can be expensive but if this is a hobby that you intend to stay in then it makes your life easier when it comes to setup and actual control over your model.
Super combo is basically a reciever ready model (also need the battery) The pro is just the kit and you will need to supply all the electronics.

The doc beat me and he is an excellent resource No worries buddy, its all good. I am no expert myself but as always the more answers the better to help someone on here that needs it. Btw...I am a A9 Fan too but just b/c that's what I started this hobby with and I am not about to change every single one of my models just for the sake of a different radio....LOL

Unfortunately unless you find one used the 450's have been out for a while and still out. Soon RCA will have the full KDS line of helis! If your that new to the hobby I would grab a Blade 300x or 450x RTF which comes with the Spektrum DX6i. Great starter radio and can be used in any heli up through a 600. I urge everyone to start with the Blade line of helis and move up to bigger Chaos once flying comfortablelly
