Well my HK order finally showed up and my replacement servos should be here by Friday. Today I rough cut the deck and drilled the holes for the water cooling on the ESC. I pretty much have to install the water outlets and pickups before I glass it all in again, still trying to figure out a way to get around that but I don't think there is. If I can't figure it out I will be filling the openings with silicone grease before I start glassing it so I can just push out after and not get any resin in there blocking the flow.

George hopefully your string of bad luck is over. Keeping an eye out for videos of all your toys. Are wind finally subsided this morning. Stop sending me your bad weather lol.

Sending you bad weather? Not me, its been nice here right up till yesterday. We had some rain in the morning and it got a bit windy in the afternoon. Today looks like it will be a bit windy too as is the weekend, and really humid. I can already feel the humidity this morning and it isn't even 9am yet Figures I finally will have all my RCs up and ready to run, along with enough batteries to make it worth while to go out and it gets windy, maybe I should go back to RC cars and trucks Oh and I don't count the boat as a failure, I just pushed it a bit to far for how it was built. This time I have lowered the CG by about 3" and the height by about 1.5". Now I just have to place the electronics so it balances right under the motor, front to rear, and it should be good to go. The new ESC is water proof and water cooled so I think I am laughing there

Well I think I figured out how to get around putting the water pickups and outlets before glassing everything in. I did away with the waterproof radio box. The ESC is waterproof to start with, and the Rx can be stuck in a balloon. My servos stick up above the deck so the best I can do with them is water resistant. That leaves only the battery and not much use in sticking that in a waterproof box by itself. My solution was to just make 3 raised platforms in the hull. they are tall enough that if water gets in and threatens the electronics the boat will sit noticeably low in the water so I can head for shore. If it flips they should still sit above any water that may get in till I can rescue it. I need to cut away some more internal ribbing so I can attach the hoses to the outlets, but its in a place that is extra beefy to start with and I shouldn't lose any stiffness by doing it. Now all that is left is getting things setup inside so I can lay out the access hatch. Then it is sanding off the old paint and wax and attaching the deck so I can get to fiberglassing. Well I really should get the servos and find where they need to go, but a dremel tool will poke a hole for them in short order

Well I am heading into the home stretch on the refit. Still don't have the servos for it, but they should be here by Monday, but I used the tail servo from the 600 to figure out where I needed to cut. Today I will trim the deck down to a close fit, remove the aluminum rigging, and epoxy in the framing for the access hatch. While the epoxy is curing I will clean, prime and paint the aluminum bits. Once they are ready to go, I will reinstall them and epoxy on the deck. Tomorrow I will start the sanding and filling of any gaps and holes so I can start the glassing process on Monday or Tuesday. I don't know how much time I will have to work on it tomorrow, I am going to the full size boat races ;D I haven't been to watch the boat races since I was a little kid. We would to go every now and then to watch the guy down the road (Fred Brouse) race. I found this picture of him from 1978 in Big Decision. We use to run down the road every time we heard him out on the river practicing. Man that boat was fast I am sure that tomorrow I will be wishing I had spent some of this RC money on a nice zoom lens for my camera, but I will take plenty of pictures and some video if I am close enough to the action.

Finally my parts have come in and I can get back to work. I need to extend the motor wires to reach the ESC, and I want to make sure that my servo location is right before I start smoothing out the hull for glassing everything. I still need to figure out a good secure QR camera mount. I have an idea, I just need to figure out where I put the parts . I have too much stuff packed into too small a space, so things get buried in the confusion

First layer of fiberglass is laid on the hull, once that cures I flip it over and glass in the deck. I know I will be putting a second layer of glass on the hull, and if I have enough matting left over I will put second layer on the deck. It looks to be going on much better this time, but I also took an extra day of filling and sanding to get it as smooth as possible. If the next few layers go as smoothly as the first, there wont be much bondoing and sanding to smooth it out for paint. Speaking of which, I still need to figure out a new paint scheme for the refit. The red black and yellow was easy to see, but not too flashy. I think I want to add some style to it this time ;D At this pace I will be on the water before or by the weekend. I guess less than ideal flying weather lets you get a lot of other things done.

The boat is back up and running. I need to do a little tweaking to get it running stable at full throttle. Right now it twists and turns once it gets up on plane, I may have to add a couple of chines to get the straight line performance where I want.
The bigger servos helped a lot with the steering input, and I can almost catch the torque turns when they happen. Its pouring rain today so I can't go out and play, but this is yesterdays test run

Very nice G! I got a good name for your video "Canadian Drift"...that thing is sweet! Looks like a lot better design than your first one I must say. Good job!

I am not even getting close to the full potential out of it yet, on 4s I am barely cracking the throttle. If I can get it to settle down and run true the thing should scream I reused the original hull I just cut it down a bit, the main thing I did was the motor tower and lowering all the electronics inside. Doing that made it a lot less tippy and what makes it so it can slide sideways with out digging in too much when it slows down. Now imagine those drifts at twice the speed

Wonder if that thing will work over snow?

Not now that it is water cooled, there are two water pickup about an inch in from the transom that stick down 1/4". They work great for picking up water and forcing it through the ESC, but I think on anything else they will act like anchors In the original configuration I could run it across the yard if the grass was wet.
