My delivery has come in. Now to go test the GPS. This is the part I am fearing as you have to take all fingers off the sticks before you engage the GPS. It is like putting all you fate in a flick of a switch. If all goes well Ill put up a video later, if not, Ill be in the pub !!

We don't have home delivery in this little town so everyone has a PO box. When you go check your box there will be a notice for anything that wont fit or needs to be signed for. Then you go to the counter to pick it up. Iroquois only has 1400 people in it so it isn't cost effective to have home delivery. Its nothing to be sad about, it forces me to get some exercise once and a awhile

I am still kind of guessing at the final weight of this plane, but running the rough numbers through MotoCalc this is what I come up with. It looks good to me, but I wont know till I actually get it finished and put into the air. Right now I have the wing and horizontal stab set to both be level at the same time, but it is easy to change the angle of attack on the wing just by adding a spacer or two fore or aft. I will mount the motor flat to start and shim it as needed to get the thrust angle right. I have a little more work to do on the firewall before I get to painting today. With any luck I should have it painted and the electronics installed tomorrow evening. My landing gear choice from HK may be a bust. They many be too narrow at the tips for me to mount my wheels so it could be coat hanger LG till I figure something else out

Well things were moving along nicely today till I decided to put everything together and check that the servos were moving in the right direction with the stabilizer. Last night when I wired up the wing everything worked, tonight when I put it all together, the right aileron servo wasn't working I disconnected everything and tested the servo on its own in each channel and it fail to even power up, so either the motor burnt up or some how a wire is broken inside. I will check it more closely, but I don't think I will be able to save it Looks like if I want to get this one finished up, aside from waiting for the prop, I am going to have to steal a pair of servos from the grounded P-47 . I haven't ordered the prop for it yet so I can order replacement servos for it when I order the new prop for it. With one servo dropping out without any use other than trimming on the bench, it makes me wonder how long it will be before the others will fail

It was a Hobby King HXT900, but fe $3 you can't expect a whole lot from them. I pulled the flap servos from my P-47 and installed them last night. Today I will be mounting the main landing gear and motor, then all that is left to do is properly mount the ESC, Rx, and Stabilizer. That will leave just the battery tray, I am leaving that to last so I can use it to balance the plane

Tough break with the servo George. I had a crash a while back when the elevator servo on a heli quit. I think I posted that it was a MG14 but it was a HXT 900. I'm not gonna gripe too much because the servo had around 50 flights on it. So it was time for something to give up on the heli. I still like HXT 900 though.

I am not too huffed about it, not even going to bother trying to get HK to replace it. The other servos seem to be working fine, but i took both the flap servos from my P-47 so my ailerons would have the same specs. I finally got around to making a quick video of the control surfaces working with the RX3S OrangeRX flight stabilizer. I turned up the gains to exaggerate the movement. I think it is going to work well at correcting mother nature's inputs ;D I am still waiting on my prop. I was hoping it would be in today, but it wasn't I ordered a 12X6 because with Motocalc 8 that looked to be the best choice for my setup. My stall speed should be around 16MPH so not super fast and top end should be near 50MPH. It should climb like crazy and have extremely short takeoffs. Once I get the vid up loaded I will post it here, still 8 minutes to go. My connection speed is real slow today

I will try and get some up soon, I am not done painting it yet. I want to make the tail bright red. Not sure if I will paint it red or just cover it in red tuck tape and save a step.

paint is heavy...... tape is even more so and you would be putting it as far back as you could. So unless you need some weight in the tail I would refrain from tape

So unless you need some weight in the tail I would refrain from tape I am using water based paints and an airbrush to add color, so the weight gain isn't measurable on a 12" X 12" piece of foam board once the water in the paint has dried. Yes I did a test on a piece of 12X12 foam board The only problem with the water based paint is that if I get my mixture wrong, or I go too heavy, it lifts the paper off the foam board
