I made a video walkthrough of the basic setup on a Black Widow FBL unit. Isn't the greatest motion picture work by any means, but it should give someone the jist of getting their basic setup complete. It's much easier to see everything if you watch it in HD. Feel free to past it anywhere else you like.

I kind of bobbled a couple little bits, but anyone should be able to follow along and get through it.

"Isn't the greatest motion picture work by any means" I think you were a bit harsh on yourself there. It's very well done lad.

It's always scary doing your first video! I was my own worst critic when I did my first video.

I've done lots of videos, it's my first fbl. It was a little tricky getting the computer and heli and a little bit of the tx in the frame, but all in all I'm happy with it. Hopefully it'll help sell some black widow units. I've watched a couple setup vids on other units, I think this one is as easy as any.

One tip.....instead of unplugging the FBL unit you can just click on the performance guide tab and wait for the FBL unit to initialize, when you want to get back into set-up, just hit set-up guide and the tab on the top that you were last in. I would also recommend that before you start setting up your helicopter, to plug in the FBL unit and go to the welcome page and hit the online update, this will update the program and the FBL unit to the latest rev of software and firmware. The latest software 1.0.0.26 lets you change the phasing of the head, this is good for the multi rotor guys.

I need the setup instructions for the black widow fbl controller as well as where can I get the software? I tried the 3gx unit and it flew fine then one day it went nuts and crashed and burned. not the first time I read this happened. I am in hopes the black widow will eat them up

New BW gyro software and firm ware. 1.0.0.27 firm .97a Looks good. What have you been mounting the gyro with? I tried the foam that comes with the gyro and its too soft of a mount. Switched to 3m gray tape or the clear tape. Seems to work alot better. Barry

Hello All. I was, or should I tried the Align 3GX fbl unit. Only 5 or 6 flights in when it went NUTS on me. After I picked it up off the street, Started out in the field but flew into the street, the red light was flashing on the 3gx unit telling me low voltage or a reset. Using the Walkera RX2702V on my storm 450 and never had an issue with over 30 flights on it. GOing to try using the BW FBL unit on my Trex 500, After I put it back together that is, and seen that it has a wide voltage range of 3.5v to 9v. Looking forward to seeing how it well it will work. I only sport fly and no 3D so that isnt an issue. I will never use a 3GX ever again thats for sure. I have a Align trex 500, align digital servos cyclics and tail, align stock motor and align ESC / BEC. I figured since it was all Align I shouldnt have any problems with all the readings I went through of the 3GX doing and acting weird during flight
