Ok I got mine to work but it is a totally different setup than your version of ESC. The soft start will not work unless you put it into Gov mode so I think that part has to be stressed first. Here is my video on my version and I have included a download link the the manual for my version of the ESC.

we may have different speedos. mine maybe a 115 instead of a 100. maybe someone else with a 550 can confirm this. if so the video is useless lol. to answer your question mine came with a manual in the bag with the speed control

I just looked at your manual. yeah its completely different. I guess I need to go back and look at what model my speed control is and edit the video. sorry for the confusion

James and Valkman....guys, thanks for the videos. Once we get the difference in ESCs setup for the softstart, it'll be a super helpful info. to everyone. I know this has been an on going issue with many not being able to figure out how to set it up. Thanks again!

Ok guys, perhaps alittle mystery out of the way here. Valkman, your video I believe is based on the Chaos 600 included Phoenixtech 100A ESC...correct? If so then on James's video it is on his Chaos 550, which is a Phoenixtech 115A ESC. After talking to Cliff today about this, he confirmed that they're indeed 2 different ESCs. The Phoenixtech 115A ESC included in the new Chaos 550 is an updated version which I guess is programed differently for the soft start than the older 100A ESC.
That said, they are both capable to be programmed for the soft start feature but has to be done alittle differently if I understand it in the videos by you guys. Hope this cleared up on the two ESCs we're talking about here.

My ESC is the SR100a V2.0 (I believe it's the same as Valkman's) and I'd like to know what settings you guys/gals are using for timing & switching frequency. I have the 1000kv Phoenixtech motor. Drev.

drev......I only changed what I did on the video. I have been too busy since so I may get a chance to play around with the other settings this week. This is where a data logger comes in handy. chief.... The ESC does not forget the settings. It is either in soft start or it is not. Make sure you have "both" the soft start inabled and heli Gov mode as in video.

How does the governor mode affect the throttle curve in the Tx or does it? The 3rd range, 100,000 "electrcal rpm" (that's a new term to me) would be the proper setting correct? Drev.

I have the 600 combo kit it came with. 115amp version ESC and mine kicks at start up as well. I get time during the week to give it a try and let you know how I go.
But thanks to you all for this post now I know what's going on with mine.....:-)
