a very short test flight of my 600e converted to flybarless soley to test the blackwidow flybarless unit. flight ended short due to a couple loose velcro straps on my rx and rx battery. unit is working great. what you see is no tweaking, no servo horn changes, just put on a flybarless head and set the unit up with the software and go fly. this is the first 3d flight on the unit. the first was just about a minute long to make sure everything worked. the unit looks very promising to say the least. what you guys think?

Thanks everyone.
Dr. Evil- yeah thats my top secret flying field. lol Sometimes its nice to get away from the local flying clubs field to test new stuff out.
Ghost- I am not sure what version I am running as far as firmware. I updated it before I flew it. Not sure if thats the latest or not. I was very pleased with its locked in feel.

If you updated it before you set it up then yes your on the lastest version ....
Team Pilots using the Blackwidow would you PM me so I can get with you and get some input on your setup experiences..... I know what we encounted on mine and Rov's setup and Danny has given me input on his setup... I am going to be documenting it and putting together and un-official setup guide for Cliff.

So these are prerelease versions that are being evaluated right?
Any information available on pricing and estimated availability date? I want to move to FBL and am going to go either with the Blackwidow or Beastx on my 500s and 600, sitting on the fence waiting for more information.
What's up guys?

the bw will be avail really soon. next month i believe. The RCA pilots including myself have put these units on every size bird nitro and electric and pushed to there limits and so far there isnt any. Every issue we have encountered has been fixed and rechecked. There will be updates for the future with this unit just like the beastx or vbar. it will always be better. If you are a Futaba guy the BW does have Sbus compatibility, And as of right now there is no specific price but will more than likely be less than 100$

Hey Curt....have you got your 600 going again yet....and beaten off those sandflys... Hey Bob! Just got her put back together again. A couple of weeks ago I had her flying well. Put one set of batteries through her checking the setup. Second set of batteries in and a couple of minutes into the flight a power lead 4mm connector disconnected. I was only about 30 feet up so didn't have much time to react to the situation. (Guess I need to practice emergency autos) She hit in long grass and the damage wasn't too bad. Skid horses, a couple of links in the head, and resetup the head. Could have been much worse. Lesson learned: If you have a question in your mind if a connection is solid enough for flight, stop right there and make sure it is without question solid.Taking her back out in a few minutes to do another shakedown flight. Hopefully I will get over the hump soon and won't be rebuilding her after nearly every outing. Gnats are still around but with an added bonus of mosquitoes. Gnats aren't quite as bad as they have been. Fingers crossed for today for the bugs and the flying. I'll give an update how it goes today. Hopefully no pilot induced repairs will be required. Crashmaster PS: Just realized last night that James V is in Savannah too! Sent him a message. PPS: if you are interested in a great flying 3D type plank you owe it to yourself to check out this inexpensive great flying plane. No vested interest just wanted to pass along a good find: www.valuehobby.com/airplanes/almost-ready-to-fly/sabre-35es-profile-3d-plane-arf-almost-ready-to-fly.html

My Chaos 600E curse!
Took her out after my rebuild. About 6 quick hops to fine tune the blade tracking. Everything else was good.
Loaded up a second set of batteries and flew her, loops, rolls, flips, everything was spot on.
Bringing her in for a landing at about 25 feet and suddenly loss of tail control, %#$@&^%$#! She is kind of a mess again. Looks like I had too much tension on the wire from the tail servo to the voltage reduction adapter and the positive wire snapped. Damn. At least I know what happened.
Now to take her out of the bag and do a parts assessment. I know I need a new KDE mod 1 maingear and a boom block, skid horses again, etc. She may stay in timeout in the bag for a little while.
I was pissed, she was flying so well.
Back to the 500s for now.
And so it goes, living up to my screen name, Crashmaster

I guess I have hijacked this thread, at least just a little. I am interested in the BW gyro when it becomes available. I want to simplify my head rebuilds after my frequent ungraceful landings.
Took her out of the bag and looks like the only thing I have to order is replacements for the KDE mod 1 115T main drive gear. I have all the rest in my spare parts stash. At least the rebuild won't involve too much $$$.
To bring the topic back to Blackwidow: I currently am running Quark gyros on my 600 and 2-500s. I have been happy with thier performance and I'm familiar with the setup. Will the 3 axis BW have a big learning curve with the setup? I'm also looking at the Tracx heads and would like an opinion on them. Looks like the BW head is very similar to the Tracx.
I'm charging batteries and headed out to fly this morning, wish me luck. I think baring mechanical failures, my balls are too big for my skill level. I guess my motto is "If you aren't crashing you aren't pushing the limits close enough to learn from the experience."
Still the, Crashmaster aka Repairmaster ;D
