Alright,
I am still kicking the tires on the Chaos 600. What are some of your flight times with your Chaos and setups. I fly strictly scale and no 3-d. The electric is new to me as i flew nothing but nitro. I just was wondering is 7-9 minutes a possibility with this size helicopter

Would depend on your setup but I get an easy 6 min. of hover time out of my 600CF using GensAce 6s 30c 5300mah battery and an Align 600MX motor with a 16 tooth drive gear. Looking at the numbers when I re-charge the battery I am using around 70 to 75 percent.

This is what I have in my Chaos 600E and it get's 6:30 min's of really good 3D.
Align 700M 510KV motor Stock 170T main gear and 18T pinion Castle ICE2 80HV Two 6S 30C 3300mAh pack's Running 2120RPM on the head
For scale flying im sure you'll get close to 10min's of flight time with this setup, maybe more.I can get 7:30min's easy if I don't beat on it the way she is. Change the pinion to a 16T,run a 1700/1800 RPM headspeed with soft damper's and you'll for sure come close to 10min's.
This was pretty much a 6:30 min flight.Only put a tad bit over 4000mAh back in both pack's so had a easy min left in them..

thanks guys, that was some amazing flying. I think i have it narrowed down to two options. I will give cliff a call monday and talk to him, and see what he thinks as well. I am leaning toward the scorpion edition with the 630kv motor and the cc85hv esc. That way i can fly 6 cell and go up to 12 cell when i put in in the fuse. I like castle ESC,and already have the castle link that i use on my RC Short course trucks. what do you guys think scorpion kit or the super combo.
onthedeck: That is what i have been reading on the Chaos so far is 1700 headspeed so the head does not wobble. I will see though these electrics are a pain to get down, but i will get there.

That's awesome Mike ..What setup did ya end up going with? Also what scale fuse will you use?Im a big time 3D flyer but the past 1 1/2 year's,ive been wanting to build a scale bird bad, just no funds ..I really like them all but my fav is the Cobra,Bell 222 and Apach.I like the Cobra the most..

we looked at a few options and i will not switch over to flybarless multi blades until the end of the year so WENT with the chaos 600 limited edition combo with the red MD500 G-jive 600 size and i picked up a md 500 littlebird for my son to fly i fly strictly scale so it will work out with the chaos 600 limited edition combo. I have the 500 apache as well. I have Always flown nitro but after taking a break and getting back into hobby i fly strictly electric it is easier being in the military for so i can ship electric easier than nitro

I have a related question. I am not interested in 3D at this time and prefer scale like flight. This is how I am flying my 450 Pro now. I am also still learning to fly heli's as well. I am interested in getting the maximum flight time available for my Chaos 600 with stock setup. Will be flying with 5,000 Mah 30c batteries. Since I will have no flybar, will not need high head speeds to maintain stability. Can I just experiment with the throttle curve and pitch curve? Will I need to go to a smaller pinion?
It seems like most posts I have read state hovering occurs around 5 degrees of pitch. What is the throttle curve at that mid stick position? There has to be some sweet spot where the motor has just enough rpm for flight, but not too much pitch to bog the motor at that rpm. I have read the manual and it states hovering should occur at 75% throttle. I can understand that for 3D, or a flybar heli. Does anyone have a rough idea where to start? I do own a tach so measuring the head speed is possible.
Thanks in advance.
