I have an HK450 Gt and whilest hovering it rises and desecends. If I say put the throttle stick at a certain place, the heli wont stay at that height. It rises and falls and have to give more throttle to get back up, then It will go to high and I have to drop the throttle. Any suggestions?
Thanks Diggiz

That is not uncommon with helis, especially lighter ones like 450's...they very rarely hover at one height...always requiring some adjustment. To reduce this really means trying to eliminate as much slop as you can. Play in your swash, links from servos to swash, links from swash to flybar etc. Bearings in your blade grips, up and down freeplay in your main shaft, freeplay in your servo gears. Loose head on main shaft, worn main shaft bearings. All these things contribute enough to allow air loads to change the blade angle slightly while flying. Just grab hold of a main blade and rock it back and forth in the direction of a pitch change. You will see some slop and that is generally the cause. You can never stop all freeplay, but you can reduce it enough to make hovering a bit easier.
Also check your blade dampers.

From your story I take it that you hover quite low, then this is normal and is called ground effect.
When you hover low there is a cushion formed underneath the heli that will push the heli up, so the heli rises, when the heli gets higher this effect is lost and the heli will drop again.
This ground effect will be less if you hover at 3 feet or more...
