Chaos 600 Pro Kit - Scorpion Edition - Torque Tube - Includes FREE Nano Gyro
Hi every one, I plan to get the kit above. If I were to go for 12 cells setup, would 630kv motor with Castle 85HV be a good setup ?
But then with the shipping cost that would make it USD700. while I can get Align 550 3GX super combo for USD950.
Or should I go cheap instead, with the 499+100 shipping with the phoenix edition?
thanks in advance Irwan

I would go with the basic Chaos 600E kit and 630kv/Castle 85HV if you wanna go 12S.We also have a FBL Chaos 550E super combo coming out tomorrow for $579.95 ,has everything but lipo and RX .

whiskey29....if you decide to go with the 600E, I bought the Scorpion Edition and run 12S with the 4025-630 motor and a CC85HV. I run two 6S 3000mah batteries in series with it. It has been an excellent heli...about eighteen months old now, around two hundred flights, no problems at all with it. The motor barely gets warm and the ESC has never been above ambient temp. It is a good combo with plenty of power. Good luck with whatever you choose. The essential difference between the two helis would be that the 600E would be considered a sport/3D heli and the 550 would be more pure 3D.

Thanks bobsp12 for your input. It will actually be my first bigger than 450 size heli Right now 3D is out of my league, and I am looking more into sport flying just to get use to flying heli. And I am thinking that it might be a thing to consider when choosing 6S and 12S. I think I will wear the lipo out before doing any 3D But I like the higher voltage setup, with my 450 the lipo is just barely warm compared to 3S, and I use cheaper 20c lipo for it. With the 600E, will the 6Ssetup demand high C lipo? will say 25C sufficient enough without putting too much strain on it ? Now are the parts are really that much more expensive with 600e compared to 550? Considering I would definitely crash one day when learning. I have not seen the 550 kit listed yet

whiskey29...I couldn't fly 3D to save my life...my 600E was my next heli up from the 450 also. I have a Chaos 700E to go nuts with, but honestly that thing scares me, the speed that such a big heli gets around the sky is daunting. The 600E is a docile old girl, it is a very stable heli. It can do 3D if needed, it just needs to be pushed a bit harder and the original 6S was a bit marginal due to the helis weight. A number of the Align 600 parts also fitted the Align 550....the head and tail parts were basically the same. Otherwise the parts are all very similar price, no real difference between the two. The Chaos 550 is a bit different from the Align model in the head design and I have not seen enough of one yet to see any other differences. The 550 was Aligns means of virtually upgrading the 600E to a more pure 3D heli without actually taking the 600E off the market as it was one of their biggest sellers. The 600E just didn't cut it with the latest 3D helis. Now they have a complete redesign with their 600pro which comes as a 12s and the weight is more centralised, making it more suitable to tight violent 3D. The mechanicals and motor layout being more like the 700's. If you are running straight 6S then you need a higher C rating battery than 25C. The lower voltage means a higher current draw and with that comes excess heat, which was the drawback with 6S on a heavy heli like the 600E. All the 12S does is increase the voltage and correspondingly lowers the current draw and everything runs cooler and has a longer operating life. It is not really a power upgrade as such...it doesn't suddenly become some sort of monster heli, just easier on it's electrical components and more torque on tap. 25C 6S batteries are fine for the 12S 600E. I am using Align as a reference as that was originally the basis for the Chaos kits. The Chaos 600E is perfect for 12S as it is wider than The Align version and the bigger motor fits straight in with no frame modding like the Align needed, also the 3000mah batteries fit well at the front of the frame with no rubbing on the frame edges.

I have not seen the 550 kit listed yet A 6S setup will do anything and everything a 12S setup can do and the older 600E can hold it's own next to any other 600/50 class heli .The difference is in power and life of lipo's..A 6S setup as you already know is a little harder on lipo's vs a 12S setup.12S will also make more power vs a 6S setup, this is for a 600/50 size .If your only sport flying and don't wanna spend much $$,a 6S setup will be more than enough and will take you to all out 3D flying ..Here's my Chaos 600E with a 6S setup then changed to a 12S setup.Clearly you can see both preform awesome..First video is 6S and the 2nd is 12S .. Click the box on the bottom right of the video's for full screen if the video's are too small... With a 6S setup,I would go with 5000mAh 35C or higher discharge lipo's and 3300mAh 30C with 12S..Here's some reading for ya on the Chaos 550E chaoscrewlounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=550 ..

Thanks guys for the opinions. I see the 600 is with flybar, I guess I dont need the flybarless then , considering there are more electronics to get. How many C hsould I use for the 6 cell 5000mah for the 600e if I were to go with 6 cell setup ? but then after comparing the 550 and 600 combo, I could get a heli with newer design, same lipo , cheaper in shipping, i just need to get a 3axis gyro, I would end up more or less the same with 600E with basic combo. Would the entry level hobbyking ZYX 3-Axis Flybarless System sufficient for learning ? I could get better esc and motor and 3axis gyro later on as I progress later on What do you guys think? Thanks
