It all started when my girlfriend's son wanted a "real" RC helicopter for Christmas so we pick up a Solo Pro for him. I thought I better get a head start with some experience so we could do this together so before Christmas starting with a Nine Eagles Draco. This month I picked up the MSR X followed by Real Flight6 and a DX6i...you see where this is heading. I use to have a woodworking shop in the basement so I like to build things. I know I need more practice before I fly a larger scale heli (ie. 450) but in the mean time what better way to get to know a heli than to build one. The Chaos caught my with all the great reviews and although it is new to the market I would like to give it a go.
Is the Scorpion motor upgrade still available to forum members on the 450 Pro Super Combo? I assume I can mellow out the motor with my DX6i as it will be too much for me at the start? I am mechanically inclined but I have never built a heli before....is the 450 reasonably straight forward? Do I need any special tools for balancing etc? I do not see any start to finish builds with pics but I am willing to give it a go.
Thanks for any feedback.

akabek, welcome to the forum. The Chaos 450 pro is very do-able as the entire head assembly is already together but I recommend taken it apart and add threadlock on everything metal to metal. As for the upgrade scorpion motor, YES...just call them and let either Robert or Cliff know that your a Lounge member. Good luck and let us know if you have any more questions.....

I recommend getting a blade balancing tool. I don't have one yet and it's tough to try to balance 450 blades the way I balanced my Blade CP blades. And having small metric allen wrenches, bit sets, and sockets come in handy. I got a load of those small tools for Christmas and working my helis is so much easier now. Become familiar with the different uses for blue and red loc-tite and how to apply loc-tite.
