Mine was a Raptor 30v1. Then it became a fully blinged 50V2 shortly afterwards. I sold it to buy a Hirobo Sceadu Evo 50

My first heli. a Circus hobbies .25 , then an X-cell 60 back in 1989 The 25 was light and got pushed around alot. I was so cheap I used an airplane engine in it. By the time that bird died the engine was so schallacked from overheating. You could sneeze and that bird blew across the yard. The 60 was an awesome machine at the time. Wind, snow, rain, nothing made a difference, rock solid bird. Minature aircraft was well before its time back then. all aluminum chassis, perfect fit with all parts, O.S. engine with a tuned pipe. wooden blades you had to weight with brass powder and epoxy. The blades were covered in shrink coating. That was a long time ago when gyros (The ones where two brass wheels spin) were first emerging at about $100 each. I still have that original RX battery pack I now use to setup my 600. 4.8v but good enough for setting up. So long ago that now I dont even remember how to set up a heli now. I guess back then, with no internet, you were forced to discover on your own, now it is a click of a few buttons and six hundered different opinions. I think my fear is that with nitro you know the engine is running, with electric three beeps and I am already terrified its going to just go full throttle and start cutting me up .

I dont remember what my first heli was called.. .but i bought it at wall-mart.. it was yellow.. and had a foam body.. it had a notched sliding weight on the underside of the body that would adjust the CG so you could fly forward with more momentum if you wanted.. it was really not very good.. but its what got me started I'd be willing to bet it was an Air Hogs. My look on those is: if it gets someone started in the r/c hobby, great. Otherwise they are just toys.

Agreed on that rcdude, recently I visited a Target store where they carry the AirHog brand helis..ofcause it caught my eye so I started to look at every model they carried there. I'll tell you what though, for the cost of those things..even the cheapest one they have...you could of just added a few more dollars and got yourself a hobby grade heli online somewhere. Like you said, if it help someone to get into the hobby than more power to them and I guess thats why I started this thread. Have a great day everyone.....

Yeap, I have a co-worker whose 11 year old son wanted to learn how R/C helis worked and decided to build one from scratch. So the father picked my brain on parts and where to buy them. I convinced the father that the best route to go would be to buy the Scout CX, disassemble it, reassemble it. I told him about the Air Hogs brand but said they weren't designed for disassembly and to spend some more money to get a hobby grade heli.

My first heli was an air hog I got for Christmas from a buddy. I flew it several times when I got it then got frustrated with it and put it away. I think I still have it somewhere. Then several years passed and decided to get into the hobby bought phoenix then bought a choas 600. I just bought a MCPx and I love it for practicing indoors.

My first heli was a Lite Machines Corona which lasted a week until I bought a Kyosho Nexus Nitro 30 from Tower Hobbies. and so it began. This was back in the 90's where gyros used to be a box with a Real gyro ball that spun around in it. Guys and gals have it so easy now a days to jump into the hobby with a RTF helicopter!!
I just figured out the other day my running tally of helis is around 40 since the 90's when I got into it.
