There's me thinking you are building a full size....slacker lol !!! I was very close to buying a Bixler 2 from HK to start with and add FPV later on but ended up spending another 300+ euro ( 400 dollars ) on upgrades for the 700. The I ended up spending nearly 500 dollars on a new motorbike helmet. Maybe next month for the Bixler. I'd like to see how this gets on. I'm sure it would work just as well on grass or snow. PS 20 meters is 65 feet!

I yeah I didn't think it looked right when I copied it from the manual, but I was too lazy to double check the conversion An even worse mistake is on their web store, is says 30 inches or 10 meter so now its anybody's guess as to which number is right 30 inches, 10 meters, 30 feet, 20 meters With any luck I will never find out and all the water the camera ever sees is a few splashes from cornering or some rain drops

The boat test today was a succes. She noses in a bit if I vi e it full throttle from a stand still but if I ease into it it jumps up on plane and scoots along. No head cam today but I did put the polaroid on it and got some onboard footage. I will upload it later tonight. Finally a home success, I was getting tired of failing;p

Great! Any chance of an on board video?

Great! Any chance of an on board video? Ooops, I thought I had already posted it here Onboard from maiden outing and some hatcam footage from yesterday It was a little choppy for the little boat on the river and I am having some rudder issues. The wooden ones (1/8" plywood) I made are a tad small and are constantly warping, so they change the steering trim while I am going I am also thinking of adding a few small chines to help slow down the sliding in the turns. I took it out last night when the wind calmed down and stuck my GPS in the battery tray. Where I was I didn't have enough room to get it up to full speed, but the GPS max speed reading was 19.2 mph, I think with enough room and a bit more tweaking I can get it up to 25 mph no problem and moving to a 4s or even dual 3s packs I can break 30 mph. I really need to get the rudder thing figured out before I go for that sort of mod

That thing can move alright. The area looks really nice where you are. Today I had time to make a prop balancer. When I get a chance I'll put a vid up. You may be interested although looking at the onboard footage ( I laughed at that one at the start when you see your legs......it looked like a giant lol ) it has no vibs.

I actually got it to go even faster yesterday, but I didn't have my GPS mounted in it so I am not sure of the exact speed. I tried it with both a 9.5x7.5 prop and the 12x6 prop I had been using. The 12x6 wins hands down even though it has a slower pitch speed. I added some lead to the back down low to counter the thrust pushing the nose in, made new rudders and waxed the crap out of the hull. Before the mods I clocked it with the GPS at 19.2 mph, it was a lot faster than that yesterday, I am guessing over 25 mph. I also tipped it over yesterday I got hung up in some reeds just out of reach and when I got it free I gave it a full shot of throttle from a stand still it torque rolled to the left and over. It got close enough for me to grab and get out of the water quickly so no damage done, I hope,. the motor was running last night and I had full rudder control all the time.

I bit of water wont hurt the motor. I have seen guys with expensive AP rigs actually wash there motors under cold water to cool them down. Throw a drop or two of oil on the bearings and all should be good.

Yeah, I put a couple drops of oil on the bearings last night and spin it every time I go outside. Right after it went over the motor quit working, and yesterday afternoon it would just jump but not turn. Last night it spun up no problem. I am going to do a bit more water proofing on the radio compartment today to protect the electronics, but there is not much I can do about the motor. I am also going to make a set of aluminum turning fins for it. I want to be able to make tighter turns at speed without sliding out. I am going to make it so I can just turn them up and out of the way when I do want to slide the corners. I might add a couple of water pickups so I can shoot water jets into the air stream behind the boat for a faux rooster tail Last night I got looking at glow engines, I might have to make another one and make it nitro powered, that or a proper nitro powered deep V speed boat, say about 72" long

G. did you come up with the plans for the boat yourself or did you get them from somewhere? I'm thinking something like that to play with in the snow. It would be cool to have a watercraft too-LOL! Very cool toy by the way.

I just did it off the top of my head, so far its working pretty good. I tried adding turn fins to it today, but I made them too big and it didn't turn at all. By tbe time I got bome and reworked them it was too late to take it out for another test.

Cool! Thanks, George. Patiently waiting for the next vid. Liked the first ones a lot. Been thinking of something like that for the snow. Nice to see it's very feasable.

Well the other day I was out playing with the boat again, I had made turning fins for it and was trying to get things tuned in. It turns out that turning fins on "my" airboat were not a good idea. I was trying to get them dialed in before turning on the camera, speed was way down and it barely turned at all. On the last run I was able to get some of the speed back, but was still much slower than without the fins, and turning performance was still off, then in a blink of an eye disaster struck. Literally in the middle of the pond, its a large pond BTW, the boat flipped upside down. It went over so fast that I don't even thing the sides touched the water. With it being in the middle and my funked up arm I was not able to cast out to it and reel it to shore, so I had to wait till it blew to the other side. It took about 25 minutes for it to get over there and 30 minutes for me to get to it, but by that time it was too late and the ESC, and the leads to the battery compartment were fried The battery seems to be OK as do the servos, Rx, and motor. I thought I had everything sealed up well, but I didn't and the radio compartment got pretty wet causing the ESC to lose its magic smoke. So I am in the middle of a refit right now. I cut off the deck and then cut out all the excess from the ribs so I can get an air tight dish down inside the hull to get as much weight against the keel as possible. I am going to run a large gauge chunk of silicone hose from the dish to the motor and seal it up good so water can not get into the dish. I also ordered a water cooled boat ESC that is capable of running up to a 6s battery. That too will be in the air tight dish with the water lines run to it. That way it should stay cool, yet be protected from outside water. This refit is going to take a lot of silicone and epoxy, but in the long run I should have a faster and more stable boat when I am finished. I just need my hobbyking order to get here so I can get to the guts of the refit

Well still waiting on that HK order to show up. Everything was ordered on the 14th and shipped on the 17th. It then sat with Speedpost till the 22nd when it was handed over to the airline. The package arrived in Canada on the 26th and was released from customs in 4 minutes. Canada post has had the package since then and it still isn't at my door I also just ordered a pair of servos for the boat, I am almost betting they will beat the HK order
