I decided to ballance my tail blades and when I looked my prop ballancer had a broken wheel so I decided to make one up. I used a spinndle ( not bent! ) from a 30 size heli the fitted the tail and an old blade ballancer that was a bit worn so I stuck new blades on it to give very little friction. Attachments:

Thanks! It is an over looked thing but these blades are not small!! Very true as I found that out myself awhile back when I could'nt figure out why the tail was bouncing up and down a bit. Sure enough, once the tail blades was balanced...everything was smooth as they should be.

this may sound like a dumb question. But how tight do you guys keep your tail blades?

I like mine to if I bump them they will fold. I have never flown tight blades.

I read somewhere that just like the main blades, they shouldn't fold under their own weight.

Mine is like that. If you tip either over they will not fall but it you give the heli a little knock they will. Some prefer the tail blades pretty loose in case of ground strike. I would only do this if the grips have a good grasp on the blade and do not allow more slop with the loose bolt. More slop means less gain on the gyro.
