how do u figure what pinion and main gear ratio you need

ill be using a 12t 112 slant setup. if you use readyheli.com head speed calculator you can choose different gearing. But I highly do not recommend a slant gear setup cause it can achieve very high headspeeds.. kdedirect.com/TREX550600MGC.html

i really wanted to do a time lapse build on my 500 but just couldnt get a get camera angle and tall enough tripod to look over my shoulder while I was building maybe the next heli i will do a time lapse video. keep up the good work

But less noise

its quiet the way its geared now. and you can use the kde 164t main gear for the 550 and achieve higher headspeed with the same noise level

Here are some pics of mine and Eric's build progress. The only bad thing about glueing it is, you are screwed if you need to take it apart... I used 5 min epoxy, built up the center tabs so the platform was wider there, filed it smooth and TIGHT....
