In my last crash I had the wired ripped out of my phoenixtech 115 esc. I am in need of a replacement. Does anyone have the factory esc laying around they want to get rid of? If not what would you recommend? Going to stay 6s, also dont really know what I need. Do I need a 120 or would a 100 work?

When I burnt up my PT I picked up a Phoenix Ice 100, but they have been discontinued and replaced by the edge series. They are rated for 2s-8s and require an external BEC, but if memory serves me right you already run a separate BEC. They are reasonably priced too at just over $100.

I am not using a separate BEc right now. The 115 phoenix that came with it had internal. I think I will just go with the CC.

I have mine on the shelf but it has an issue. For a 600 I would always say use an external BEC or a seperate pack for the radio. Just for safety

your call - I use an external BEC as I don't want to deal with charging 2 different packs for the same heli. That said it is probably a little more fault proof as you will never put that pack under as much stress as your flight pack and thus less likely to have it fail mid flight.

BEC myself. I already hate to charge my lipos so if I have to charge an additional one just for the RX..that would suck. To me going with the ext. BEC is one of those things that you install and forget about it...never have to mess with it again well unless it fails for some reason but otherwise its always there doing its job. As where an additional lipo just for the RX...you'll have to make sure it's always fully charged which means you need to check it before every flight. I think it's just another thing you need to do before flying.

I went the separate battery route on my aerial rig. I also upgraded to HV servos all round. I did not want my rig failing because of another electronic failure that can be easily avoided. I installed a rather large pack.....4000ma! It fits between the frame behind the motor. I could get easily 4-5 flights with it. That's why I went large so I could go out and do a job with a few flights with no issue. The charging I do not think is an issue. I have a dual charger anyway. One of the main concerns is of course weight. If you are a stick banger maybe the lighter BEC may suit you more...
