I am giving up on the phoenixtech ESC that came with the 450 I bought. Tried for ever last night to bump the voltage up to 6v following the instructions Phoenix sent me and all I can say is that I was lucky as hell I did what everyone should do when working on these things (remove the blades) Everytime I tried to change a parameter the esc would arm and the motor would go full throttle - Bought a YEP 45 and programming card for $35 last night from Hobby King's US warehouse. I hope to see it in the next month I am still getting a pronounced wag - almost like the servo is not responding quickly enough and then it just kind feeds on itself. The servo is a Align ds520 (I think) and I am guessing it and the Sparta servo just want some more juice. As long as the wind is not blowing against the tail and I have the gain adjusted down I have no issues.

WOW! Glad to hear you took the blades off. I have the Spartan Quark & it's amazing. I have ordered stuff from HK's U.S. warehouse & I normally get my order in 3 or 4 days. I don't know if calling Robert will give you any answers on your esc or not. Those guys at RCA are second to none. Their product support & technical assistance CANNOT be beat.

No doubt RCA's people are great. I bought my 600 new from them and they ironed out any little issues with parts with no questions or fuss. That said I bought the 450 second hand so I wouldn't feel comfortable going to them for help.
I couldn't find the manual for this particular ESC anywhere on the web and Dr Evil sent me an email for Phoenixtech. I mailed them and they replied about a week later with a manual. I am not convinced they sent me the correct manual and the manual doesn't list any model or part numbers so who knows. That said I get the ESC to go into program mode but after that not much matches up with what the manual says.
For example the manual states to plug battery in once you have set the radio to high stick - this puts you in program mode.
Once you hear the beep code for the option you want you move the stick to low position.
Once you hear the variable you want you go back to high stick to save that setting. Do that on mine and the head spools up to 100% in .0000000000001 seconds
I am impressed with the gyro. Got notification that my order was ready to ship but at this point I am used to waiting 1 to 1.5 weeks before it actually ships. I have ordered from the Asian warehouse one time and that was a 6 week wait so I always order from the domestic one since

Sorry to hear about that. I guess I have to agree about calling RCA for a second hand part. Sounds like maybe you got a bad esc. With the HK U.S.A. warehouse I just ordered some stuff from them again about 2 weeks ago & it took 3 days to get to WI from the time I placed the order. Hope you have the same luck with them I have.

It sounds like your ESC programmes like my old one. You can only programme one feature at a time and then it fully arms. Before you do any more have a look at my video and see if it helps.
I have the YEP 120 HV esc and it is amazing.
