Hi guys. Today I got my first flights in on my heli with the GPS unit. It was very nerve racking as you have to let go of the sticks and flick the switch and put your trust in the unit. All in all I am happy with it but there is a bit more tweaking to do on it before I put my camera equipment on it. I would highly recommend this unit either with or without the GPS. If you go without the GPS you can still use normal mode and Attitude hold which is ideal for scale flying. It is available from the RCA website where I bought it from. www.scaleflying.com/DJI-NAZA-H-WGPS-_p_2784.html

That is amazing! I want one! LOL
Question.... i am assuming once you flick that switch, it'll hover still by itself but can you still add inputs to move around and let go again and it goes back to self hovering?

That's it doc. You use 3 position switch, two if your not using GPS. You have normal mode for normal/3d flight, attitude mode which basically locks it on more but you cam still fly around but needs more stick movement ( which can be totally adjusted) and GPS mode which locks the position. You can still fly around in gps and when you let go sticks it puts the brakes on! Return to home and take off land assist is ment to be the next free update. I'm using a life pack , no bec.

Almost all FBL units are going to start including self leveling or hard deck on them. It's the new future! I'm putting the Naza on the new bird, will keep ya updated Andrew.

No hard deck on this one. Not bothered anyway as I don't do 3d and besides its for an ap rig. The hard deck units cost a lot more at the moment. Why I don't know.

Let's you set a designated ceiling height and if you screw up and get out off control wants it hits say a "predetermined" hard deck it self levels itself by taking control of cyclic and collective controls Bail out is sweet to but have to flip a switch like TH but ya better be quick...

I have a buddy at my field that flies a Naza: 5 minutes into the video he sets the transmitter on the ground under the hovering heli

Very cool! I really need one now. Is it any harder to set up than a typical fbl gyro?

There is a bit more to setup alright but you would manage it ok. DJI has a couple of very good setup videos ( which is why I did not bother doing one ) and there is lots of information on the forums. The main one is HF and the link i gave above. I say go for it Doc. You may still be able to use the GPS option on the scale bird. I dont think a thin sheet of fiberglass above the GPS will affect it too much but you can look into it. I used to install GPS tracking systems into high end cars a few years back and I used to hide the aerial under the dash and it still worked there.
