Hobby King Hong Kong and China are back up and running as of the 16th. I checked that before ordering anything. Sure they will need a few days to get caught up, but they are active now.

Mine has shipped. I ordered it on the 12th and it was not a just in time item ( JIT). It was the same last year. If any company is busy you take on more staff or have overtime. Taking it out on a customer is not good practice. Anyway, enough of the rant, back to the build!

Oh you can rant all you want about Hobby King and their speed, you are preaching to the choir right now. I clicked the wrong shipping option when I made the order, and contacted them to change it as soon as I noticed my mistake, and made the payment to get upgraded to EMS. Since then my order has been put on hold 3 times saying that I needed to make the payment. Each time I have provided them with the PP transaction ID and seen the order go from on hold to being in the print line up, to back on hold. Its almost like they are looking for more money than I owed them, but I know its just a communication failure. It is still frustrating to have to jump through the same hoops over and over OK my order is back on the print queue, again If it get put on hold one more time I just might get angry and take it out on the poor CS rep that has to deal with me

Well my HK order is printer now and being picked after three tries Don't know what the problem was, other than I checked the wrong shipping option and and had it up graded after the fact. I noticed my mistake right away, contacted them to change it and paid for the difference, yet it kept getting kicked out of the print queue for non payment If I am lucky it gets picked before the end of this week and makes it to me by the end of next week. I hope I am lucky, because I really want to get moving on this again. The wing looked much better in good light after the paint cured so I went straight to wrapping in in packing tape. Got it half done and realized I didn't have any more packing tape, and had a package I needed to mail out to Montana today. I will be picking up more packing tape when I head out to ship the package to Montana and finish wrapping the wing this week as time permits. I also added struts to the horizontal stabilized to get it as close to square with the rudder and level as I possibly could with the wing. I don't think I will be adding wing struts, I could do it, but it would just be for show, and would make it harder to transport. I have installed the steerable tail wheel, it is taller than what I mocked up, but still looks good and works. The added height shouldn't be a problem because the landing gear I ordered from HK is 10mm longer than my mock up and I picked up a set of Du-Bro 3" Diamond Lite Wheels instead of the 2 1/2" wheel I was originally planning on. I wanted to have the ability to use less than perfect landing strips, hence the bigger wheels.

Ordered on the 15th, picked and ready to ship on the 20th. While pretty good for Hobby King right after the Chinese New Year, it is still slow by North American warehouse standards, or at least the ones I have worked at. When I worked at the Polaris/Victory warehouse in Winnipeg, if an order came in before 10am it was on the truck by 4:30pm.
Doesn't matter, I am happy that it will be on its way to me soon

I am at thew waiting stage right now, I need paint to finish painting it, packing tape to cover the paint, and the electronics so I can lay out and make the radio try, and of course the motor so I can make the firewall. I could go out and pick up the paint any time, but I am going to wait till I have to go to the city again to get it. Might as well make one trip instead of two I may need to order a couple more props as well. I know I need one for the P-47, but they didn't have any in stock on Saturday. The only prop I have right now is a 9X7.5 and it doesn't fit the P-47 and I am not sure if it will fit the prop adapter that comes with the HK motor. Either way I want to have a few props on hand to try out and see what works better for me.

Not much longer now till I get to start working on this again, the parts are somewhere over the Pacific ocean now. I figure some time in the middle to end of next week I will have everything but a prop to finish this off. then all I have to do is wait for the weather to cooperate to get a maiden flight in.

The waiting is killing me I know the package is going to arrive today, or it should get here today, but when Pretty much I am just waiting for it to get sorted and the the delivery notice to get stuck in the mail box so I can go pick it up. I got up early this morning, because I have a few things to paint that need 2-3 coats, and I decided to check the tracking number. It was showing that my parts had been processed through Ottawa and in transit at 4am. I am only about 1 hour from Ottawa, but the post office doesn't open till 8:30am and it takes them a few hours to sort out the mail. I am hoping to get the notification before noon, that way I can work on the plane between coats of paint . Unfortunately they are calling for a big snow dump tomorrow, and higher winds for the rest of the week, so I don't know when I will get to maiden it

Ailerons are done, ESC is soldered, just picked up the paint to finish painting the fuse. When I get home I start to make the radio and battery tray, then its the firewall. I had to special order a prop, once that gets here she is ready to maiden.

G...let me get this str8, maybe this is only by you but why don't your post office actually drop off a package instead of leaving a notice? Do you mean they leave a notice if your not home or they do that reguardless?

We don't have home delivery in this little town so everyone has a PO box. When you go check your box there will be a notice for anything that wont fit or needs to be signed for. Then you go to the counter to pick it up.
Iroquois only has 1400 people in it so it isn't cost effective to have home delivery.
