Picked me up a NIB 60 size TF P-40E Gold Edition kit from the local CL postings at less than 50% MSRP. This is going to be my long term project with the hobby budget for the year being dedicated to getting this bird in the air.
For you ARFers out there, this is a true build not an assembly of a plane.
Power plant will be a DLE20, going to use the E-Flite 60-120 90* rotating electric retracts, and probably will use my Spektrum gear for TX/RX.

Doc, this is not mine...it's "rcdude" latest project. My addicition is still burning inside of cause, since then I've picked up a T-28 earlier this year if you didn't remember me posting something on that in another thread. Recently...I been having thoughts of another plane though (scary...lol), I really gotten to like the "F4U Corsair" for some reason...maybe its those wings like most ppl but something about it that got me thinking of wanting it bad. Oh well, I guess I"ll have to make room in my poker room.

That is a great model - used to have one - Sold it off to get the P-51 model that I went overboard on (water cooled the engine and put a radiator in the scoop) Also loved the T34 model they had out for a while. I flew the wings off that one several times and always rebuilt it.
Doc - the F4U is great and if you get it remember to carry more speed than you want on landing. They like to tip stall and then flat spin in. At altitude it is fun - when landing you are picking up parts of broken wood

Yep, sorry about that Dr. Evil. I did remember you posting something about a plane earlier, that's why I made the last comment. If you are interested in a F4U try the Parkzone Corsair. It's fun, fast enough, and comes in PNP-BNF- & I think there is a RTF version too. It's not too big & is very forgiving. Plus it will float forever. Anyway I'll be watching for " rcdude" to post a build log.

wow, I've missed a lot of posts in this thread. I started with planks way back as a kid. Dad was in the hobby with planks before I came along. At age 13 I officially soloed my .40 nitro Tower Hobbies trainer. Flew strictly planes until 2007 when I bought my fist r/c heli, the Blade CP. Now I do a mixture, not the best with helis, but enjoying them. Before I went off to college I watched/helped my dad build his TF P-51D and TF Focke-Wuf 190D kits of the same size and Gold Edition family. He hasn't let me fly them because he's scared to fly them but when they are flown I've watched/paid attention to the pilot and how they handled. In trying to find different CSes of full scale P-40 I came across a really interesting site with pics and information on how the Japs used captured P-40 aircraft during the war. www.j-aircraft.com/captured/capturedby/p40warhawk/captured_p40.htm Man how it would blow people's minds to do a captured P-40 CS!!!!! Builder's log update: all diecut pieces of wood have been labeled with a fine tip permanent marker. I'm on the hunt to find a 6foot or longer table within my wife's strict budget, I have a lead on one and may be able to get it tonight. Then I will get a few ceiling tile squares to lay on the table. This will provide a flat surface that T-pins can easily penetrate. T-pins are used to hold spars, ribs, etc.. down on top of the plans. Then it's a matter of seeing if I get any building supplies/materials for Christmas.

I recently got a 6 foot folding table for $50 on sale, I got it for doing leather work on. It is really nice because when I don't need it I just fold down the legs fold it in half and tuck it in a corner.
