So yesterday I made a mad dash to Ottawa with the intention of buying a small CCPM heli that I could use for practice and save a bit of money instead of repairing the 600 every time I tried to fly it
I ended up picking up a MCPx V2, and well of course I couldn't wait to try and fly it. Needless to say I did a lawn dart imitation and smacked the ground pretty hard on the first battery and broke one ball off of the swash plate, and popped off one of the links. I found the link, which I thought was kind of amazing, but this morning when I went out to try again I took of the canopy so I could press the main gear back in place, and low and behold there was the little ball that broke off What make this even more amazing is that I just rotated the links 90° and kept flying yesterday. So that little ball stayed in the canopy through 2 batteries.
Enough with the rambling, when I picked up the MCPx yesterday the sales person said that the only upgrade he did on his was the alloy swash plate, Dr Evil said alloy head. I went browsing the upgrades available for this little helicopter, and there are a lot of them . The swash plate is a given since mine is already damaged, I may go with a head upgrade too, the helicopter's head that is . I think outside the swash and head, that a brushless upgrade may be in the future too.
A few other bling type upgrades have caught my eye, like the carbon frame and tail boom supports. Thing is at what point do you stop? Sooner or later you will be adding more weight and that will affect the already short flight times. If you have added any of the available upgrades and bling, what were they and how do you feel they affected the flying characteristics of your MCPx.
Just thought I would add to this original post to save anyone having to read all the way through to see what has worked for me so far.
I will be adding to this list as I go

- First upgrade was the Microheli swash plate and head. The swash was a huge improvement over the stock one. The MCPx should come with an alloy swash from the factory. the head is more of a bling item, but it does have the nice little loops to hold the blade links in place if they pop off.
- Next was the Microheli landing gear with boom supports. Once again it was a bling upgrade, but I do feel that the supports have added some tail authority, either through stiffening up the tail or the frame at the skids. I also haven't broken a tail boom since adding the supports so either I have gotten better or it has helped there too. *UPDATE* On what seemed like an innocent crash landing I blew out one carbon skid and the opposite side boom support. I found all the pieces and CA'd it all back together, but I don't know how long it will last. I am going to see if there is something i can manufacture to replace the carbon skids that is a little more resilient.
- I also have an Xtreme Type A canopy, but I haven't put it on yet. I just finished a nice vissable bright orange paint job on it and should be able to try it out tomorrow (Sept 11, 2012)*UPDATE* My paint job sucked, not because I can't paint, but because I failed to test the two colors I was using to see if they would react to each other. The orange looked great, but when I added the blue for the windshield it blended through the orange that had cured for 12 hours. The canopy adds forward bias to the heli though and makes it react quicker to forward cyclic input.
- Microheli Percision CNC Titainium Feathering Shaft set: This is a complete waste of money, don't buy it, don't even look at it I finally bent the stock feathering shaft yesterday so I installed what I had on hand. I knew that they were prone to stripping, but I didn't hear about it till after I had already ordered and received it. the helicopter didn't even make it off the ground before it threw both blade grips
