I'm trying to finish my Chaos 600. I bought the ultimate combo that came with phoenixtech motor and the 15&16 teeth pinion gears. I ran into the problem where the grub screw wouldn't line up with the slot in the motor shaft because the 6mm hole wasn't drilled through the pinion I got the hole drilled out. Now the grub screw still doesn't line up with the slot it seems that the pinion gear is tall or the slot in the shaft is to low. The pinion gear is setting on the clip at the bottom of the shaft and the grub screw won't sit in the slot correctly. This is the only thing I need to get fixed to be ready to maiden the copter and would really like to get it fixed but not sure what to do about it or if anybody else has had the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Post #12 of this thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1405430 - Dr Evil says that he had to grind down a little more than whats on the shaft now in order to be able to install the pinion correctly and he shows a picture. Post #134 of the same thread: - Jonathan Ott says: I had to drill out the pinion (16T {I'm going 6cells, ) and expand the grub screw flat spot on the motor shaft. Even with the pinion drilled out, the grub screw would not lign up with the flat, so out came the file and opened up the flat about 1/2 file width. I might have to raise it a little more, as the pinion is not fully engaged on the main gear (about 7/8 of the pinion is riding on the gear, so I think I need to raise it about 1/8"...gotta look at it again tonight).

Just to second that i had to grind the shaft a lil down on the motor to allow the grub screw to make good contact as well!

I also had the same problem with the pinion grub screw. I used my Dremel, a cutting wheel, a 90* adapter and stand on a slow speed to lengthen the flat on the motor shaft. I used masking tape to seal up the motor so no filings could get inside it. The pinion fits great on the motor shaft with no pinion mods. I don't have the motor installed in the frame yet so I hope it lines up with the main gear ok.
