When i bought the electronics for my 600 i purchased 2 tenergy 5000 mah 22.2v 25c batteries. I have built my kit and installed the electronics so i decided to charge one of my batteries to test things out. My charger is a Thunder AC6. The battery seemed to charge just fine. After a brief spool up on the heli I ran into some problems and am going to have to fix. I wanted to discharge the battery and when i try to do this my charger is giving me an error. After looking into this i see that the charger is only identifying 5cells not 6 and not letting me charge, discharge, etc at the 6 cell program. Did i get a bad battery? What can i do? Anything? Can I use this battery now as a 5 cell? At $100 bucks each i am upset but i dont think i did anything wrong. As i said i charged on the 6 cell lipo at 5a on the lipo program and it charged complete. Any ideas on what has happened or what to do? thanks

Hummm, very interesting....when you set to discharge...did you make sure its also set to 6s as well? What you wrote about the charging setup seems to be fine but not sure if you double checked on the discharge setup.

I just plugged my second battery in and set it to charge and the charger is only reading 5cells on it to. I then plugged in one of my 3cell batterys in and the charger reads 3 cells. So im thinking my charger is bad at a 6cell charge and not the battery. $50 for the charger $100 for a battery, better i guess. The charger did seem to hot when it was charging. Doc. If it is the charger, i wont be able to get another charger for awhile. what can i do about my charged battery? Think its a bad idea to use the charger on my 3cell batteries?

If you get the chance pick up a cell checker... They come in handy and can let you know when a cell is bad or also to make sure you aren't throwing in a pack that isn't charged.

Is anyone using 2 3s 5000ma batteries verses 1 6s 5000ma? if so how is it working for you?

How do you guy's charge your 6s batteries when you are at the field and do not have access to 115 volt power? Most charger comes with connectors for the use with your car battery.

2 3s 5000ma batteries would be a bit on the heavy side for a 6s setup. As Doc says you can connect to you car battery either directly to the battery with clamps or through the cig lighter. Most cig lighters have around 15 amp fuse so if you charging large batteries that may blow. Not sure how most of your US cars are done, they may only have 5 amp or a piece of cig paper for a fuse lol. Remember if your battery/car is not a big one, or it is not fully charged to start with, you can drain it after a few 5000 mah battery charges. This is why some buy a generator, usualy a quite Honda one.

Hi guys thanks for the reply on charging but I don't see how you can charge a 6s battery being 22volts off of a car battery that is only 12 volts. I also asked about using 2 3s 2500 batteries verses 1 6s 5000 but I messed up and said 2 3s 5000 packs. My question is there any do and don'ts about using 2 3s packs instead of 1 6s pack? I have chargers for charging the 3s but to go to 6s that is a lot of money to invest in a power supply and chargers, plus how to charge them at the flying field w/out 115 volts. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Going with two lipos to make up for one I feel is somewhat of a personal choice. If you don't have the equipment to properly charge a 6s lipo then I don't see any reason why you can't use 2 separate lipos to do the same thing as one. As for the question on how a 12 volt car battery is able to charge a 22 volt lipo...well it's not actually the car's battery that is doing the charging but it's the charger supplied by the car's battery that is doing the work.

The charger "converts" 12v to 25.2v exactly the same way as say, a campervan can convert its 12v batteries to 115v. The voltage goes up but the current goes down. You don't get energy for free. The is no problem using 2 batteries as you say but make sure you have both batteries charged at the same voltages when you connect them in series or they can go bang!
"plus how to charge them at the flying field w/out 115 volts." See my above reply,
