Today I got my keychain camera. I got it here for 59 US. www.ebay.com/itm/220956379824?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649I spent a bit of time with it today and I was nearly giving up hope in getting it to work properly due to vibration messing up the picture quality. I was beginning to think it was for planes only. However my last attempt worked out pretty good and I wanted to share my pics. The video I won't put up yet as it's too late here and my net is too slow. The bracket I made from.... 1. A piece of carbon fiber. Metal will do as long as it is rigid. Plastic is no good that was my first attempt. 2. A Centruy Halk canopy mount. ( the white bit ). 3. A piece of plastic which is above number 2. I just cut up a piece from a Halk frame. Attachments:

Here you can see the piece of plastic above the white bit. I did not want to drill into the stuts for obviuos reasons. I did however drill put the holes a bit bigger for the larger screws used but it should not affect it. Attachments:

On the bottom of the camera is the velcro and I put a bit of foam on the front. If you notice I doubled up the foam on the sides. This is because the camera is not flat and it holds it down better with it. The velcro strap is then wrapped around everything keeping it very tight. I did reem out the LED hole a bit so I could see it better. These are covert cameras so the hole is tiny so others cannot see the camera on with a flashing led. The velcro strap actually goes over the on/off button but you can press the button easily through the velcro. You can also download/charge the camera while it is still on the heli. Attachments:

Revision 2!! I counter sunk the nuts into the bracket that goes on the heli struts. This will allow easy install/removal so you can leave the camera bracket off and put it on easily when needed. The weather is not the best ( again ) today so if it pick up ill go out. Attachments:

This part stays on the heli. It has the nuts inside the bracket so it is just a matter of screwing the camera mount into it. Attachments:

Guys I have no good news. I had today off and this morning I went to a field and recorded 3 flights. When I got back and had a look at the vids they were full of vibrations. I spent the whole day working on it. Dynamically balanced the blades Balanced the tail Tried different RPM's used all sorts of hard and soft mounts used hot glue on the inside battery and lense. I ended up with a better video but it has "jello" effect. I beleive " Moon Gel " might work but I will try and make a silicon mount first. What really annoys me is the fact the it worked great yesterday evening and I did not do a thing to it.

I wonder if it is the light weight of the camera? It may not have enough weight to hold its place with inertia so the damping you are trying isn't helping

That's a good point. I have read thay they work better hard mounted but I tried that and it still gets the dreaded jello affect. I'll put it to bed for the time being. I'll let you guys know how I get on.

What are the chances the the problem isn't vibrations and actually electrical or magnetic? thing is I don't know where else you could move the camera to to get away from that. Maybe some shielding of some sort?

I did think of that. I was going to just wrap it in kitchin foil to see but when I was in the workshop I came across an old camping ground sheet. Nice soft foam with foil on it. I wrapped it in that and held it with rubber bands. No joy!! I also took the blades off and spooled it up with the lead to av out so I could see live what was going on. It had jello until I grabbed it with my hand so it's vibs for sure. I also tried the camera on 50fps and 30fps to try different shutter speeds and still the same. Im going to try silicon next, with maybe a sheet of metal in between to add weight ;-)
