I bought my first real TX and went with a DX8. It came with a 2000mAh 4.8 niMH transmitter pack. Per instruction on charging via the manual after a full charge the blue light on Tx should turn off. indicating a full charge. i knew that i wasnt getting a full charge and contacted HH. they agreed and sent me a new pack. i think by luck i was sent the bigger lipo pack. Again, manual said it could take upto 30 hrs. to fully charge. I changed the setting on the tx to take the new lipo and charged but blue light never turned off. The charge was likt at 8.5 v when i stopped yhe charge. Question, what should a fully charged 4000mAh 7.4 v pack read on my tx and is that why my blue light is not turning off? Any one have this Tx and have this happen?

With the nimh battery in the DX8 the purple lite does not go out when the battery is charged. With the lipo it should go out when fully charged as per the manual. I don't have the lipo (yet-- $70.00 "ouch") but I've read that it takes a long time to charge. The charge circuitry is in the battery pack with the lipo which controls the charging & the lite will go out when fully charged. I charge the nimh pack 8-10hrs. & it's good to go. It does last quite a while so I'll just stick with it for now.

Thanks. So i was lucky and it was a mistake HH sending me the lipo replacment. Do you know what a full charge reading with the lipo should be. I dont know how to figure it out. isnt there a formula to use?

When your pack is reading 8.4 the battery should be charged

4.2 volts per cell when charged full. Mine only charges up to 8.2 though when the light goes out.

I would just charge the battery outside the TX on your charger you use for your flight batteries. This will be faster and safer if the lipo decides to go up in smoke it won't take your TX with it. With 2 cell packs it should be 3.7 volts per cell, but all my two cell packs usually read 8.1 to 8.2 volts for my short course trucks when fully charged.
