My 450XL has been down for a month or more because of a stripped main gear. I ordered parts, but did not see I also needed to order the $14 main gear case for the new main gear. So my 450 is still sitting on my table dismantled. I've been flying my 250 class heli in the yard and have progressed to sliding it around, hovering pirouettes (not pretty), and nose-in hovering. If I order the main gear case I'll also get a few 160mAh gum stick packs for my UMs and finally get a lipo sack (yeah, I'm being brave or dumb without having one and using 6 lipos plus 5 gum stick batteries).
There is a local guy on CL that is selling an mcpx v2 BNF with 4 batteries that is slightly used (just a few weeks). He's had it posted for a while and has dropped his price. I've been wanting an mcpx due to all the hype and really the durability, not to mention better sized for my yard. However, his price is higher than what my CFO (chief female officer) will allow, but my plan is to offer that limit. Then I would sell my original Ultra Micro Sukhoi to help offset the cost a little bit (and free up that model memory in my Dx6i).
So, I'm at a crossroads. If the guy goes for my offer and I can sell the UM Sukhoi, the costs are about even/comparable. Please help me decide.

Go for it, sounds like it's in really good condition. Depending on price, seems like a good deal. I have always liked my mcpX, it is unfortunate it needs a $70 replacement part now.

hrmmm. The guy will do my price, but without the charger and batteries since he can use them elsewhere. But that puts me unable to fly this heli for at least a month or more. Decisions decisions.....

Thanks but I am meeting him this morning. Negotiated $15 more than my initial offer with him keeping 2 of the 4 batteries and charger (since he can use them) and he provides me with the charging lead that will work with the 4 port Celectra charger.

I am now part of the mCP x club. For $115 I got: - an almost mint condition heli - 2 stock batteries - charging lead adapter for 4 port charger - $15 worth of spare parts (links, main gear, tail boom, tail motor, tail rotor) - standard bag of stuff - manual - dvd
The guy hovered it the best he could for me and everything worked perfectly. Now to get time to set it up in my last model slot on my Dx6i and get to know this bird.

Nice! You'll like it! Also you can do so much more with your DX6 than i ever was able to with my DX5. Have fun!

Impressed with this bird. 3 tail-in hover flights and up to 90* hover in a clear space of 6'x6 indoors and I can tell it has plenty of power. Did smack a chair leg and flattened a corner of a blade. Added a little vibration only seen in the wiggling of the vertical stab. Doesn't appear to affect flight. I feel this heli has more power than that 250 I have. Gonna enjoy this bird.

Need to make my first repair. Was out yesterday morning in the dawn light before work doing forward circuits with right turns. Lost orientation and put it in tail first in the ground. Broken tail boom was the result. Reading online and looking at it closely, I should be able to glue it back into position and the wrap it 2x in paper towel and let that dry in CA overnight. Now to just get the time to do the repair... Late work days and relieving my wife from newborn duty when I get home leaves my little time for R/C.

You can easily make a new one using a solid carbon rod from a 450 size tail boom support. Thats what I've used for awhile now and works great, just cut it to size...I usually make mine just a little longer. The only thing is you'll have to wrap the tail motor wires around the boom instead of the stock hollow one where its inside the boom....no biggie, after the wrap I use heat shrink and cover up the wire or you can simply leave it.

Glued it back together and did the paper towel trick. Wrap 2x and let soak in CA. Need to color it black. Initial spin up looked good, only flying it will tell.
