Yea, I,m still pretty pissed so I haven't priced it out yet. Have some of the parts here & already changed out. Think I'm going to take a break from it for a few days, then figure out which way to go. "IT WILL FLY AGAIN" as they say. It's just a matter of time.

Not counting the parts I have it should be close to $220 to fix the heli. Haven't decided on a new kit or just get the parts needed. A rekit would give me alot of extra parts though. Think the base 600 kit is about $300 plus shipping, tax & brokerage fee BS. Maybe I'll just flip a coin to decide. Just started to connect up the electronics so I haven't figured out what works & what does't. Maybe I'll get lucky & they'll be OK. We'll find that out soon. Drev.

Checked out the electronics. Every thing is OK except the ESC. Probably smoked when the battery hit the ground & exploded. Maybe I'll check out one of those Scorpion kits. Drev.

If you go with USPS/Canada Post there is only something like an $8 handling fee and HST on the retail cost. The only time you get dinged with brokerage fees is if you go the UPS option.

Been ordering the parts I need to get her flying again. It was cheaper to rebuild than rekit. Also ordered the Black Widow FBL rotor head, no free shipping from RCA to Canada. Had to make shipping worth the cost. Probably leave it FB for a while till I get better at flying,we'll see. The order has been shipped so we'll see how long it sits in customs. Ordered a CC Phoenix ICE 100a ESC as well as the Phoenix ICE programmer to replace the Phoenixtech ESC, so have to see how that goes. Fixed the original ESC, just had a burnt batt. wire solder joint. Going to use it in a 'plank'(yah I know) I've been working on. Gotta fly something. Might be a nice change till I get the Chaos 600 rebuilt. Fly safe, Drev.

I am hoping to head into Ottawa tomorrow evening to pick up my blades and main shaft so I can work on getting mine flight ready on the weekend. My HK blades "should" ship tonight and be here end of next week early the week after, so I will be set for main blades for a bit.
Right now I am contemplating ordering one of the KDS 450s that RCA has on sale with my next check. It would be a bit cheaper to learn on, but I so want to fly my 600.

I was thinking on those lines myself, but I just blew my budget for probably the rest of this season. I still need a 6.6 Life pack for Rx power & a few small parts yet to finish the rebuild. It should be up in the air in a couple weeks. Drev.

I've never ordered anything from China, never really trusted them sites after some of the horror stories I've read about. Parcels lost in shipping, inop. parts received then YOU have to pay shipping to get a good part from them, even heard of a guy getting empty boxes. How does customs work on orders from China? Maybe I'll try it sometime, their prices are "loooow", but we got some great sites here to order from. Drev.

It normally takes a bit of time to process things and get them shipped out, and if you go with standard shipping it can take a month or so for it to arrive. I have always paid the extra for express shipping, but like you said the prices are so low that you still end up paying considerably less than buying on this side of the ocean. I wouldn't buy anything expensive or that I wanted right away from over seas, but simple things like the blades its not a problem. Batteries too, I got 2 5000mah 25C 6s batteries for just over $135 shipped express. I couldn't even find one for that price in North America. The 3 sets of CF blades shipped express came to $125 Canadian, real hard to beat those prices.

What happens if batteries you order are no good? Are there those damn brokerage fees with their express shipping? I'm not a gambler & I can't afford any F@#K ups. Have you ever had any major problems with HK or any other offshore sites? Maybe I should start using them because of the prices. Drev.

Express post has no brokerage fees, at the most you get charged HST and an $8 handling fee by Canada Customs, unlike the 50-100% that UPS charges.
From my understanding if you receive a defective item, you have to send it back to them at your own expense, but you will get refunded the cost of the product. Yes there is a chance that you could lose some money, but for the most part I hear a lot of satisfied customers. My batteries came to me well packaged and at a perfect storage charge. If a package is damaged don't accept it and hope for the best, refuse the package and you would get credited all your money back.
So far with my limited experience with shopping from China based store, I have had nothing but good luck. My little 4ch heli I wasn't charged anything in the way of taxes or customs fees (the $8), my Tx I was only charged the $8+HST, and my batteries came through with no charges either. I will see how it goes with my blades in a week or so, but even if there is only 2 of the 3 sets that I ordered that are good I am still up on the $74 I just spent on blades at Great Hobbies.
Don't get me wrong I shop locally when ever I can, but sometimes there is no way that the local shop can compete with the low prices from places like Hobby King. My new Tx will be bought locally I know that for a fact, even if I can get the same one over seas for a 1/4 of the price. Some things are not worth chancing.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll make up a list of parts like batteries, blades & stuff that high quality & precision isn't really that important, order it at the beginning of winter so if it takes a long time to get here it won't matter so much. Maybe by then I'll have some coinage saved up. Thanks again, Drev.

Got all my parts today except for a few bits & pieces. Started the rebuild, got Fusuno FG frames($36.00 for both sides), just have to drill the holes for the 3rd main shaft bearing, other than that they are pretty much identical, but they're red. It was either red or orange or yellow(carbon fiber are $65 a side "OUCH"). I guess if you want to fly a 600 that's what it costs. You know what they say, "RED GOES FASTER". Just about got the main frame assembled & everything is going together ok. Hope to start the electronics tomorrow. Drev.
