Lately here, I been wanting to start my first scale fuse heli project. That being said, I also always wondered about RC planes as well. On the sim, it seems easy enough to fly but what about in real life? Any suggestions on what to get for someone who never flown a plane before. I know, I know...do I really need another hobby?....so I guess the answer would be "why not"? LOL

Get a simple Bind n Fly for your spectrum. They are extremely easy compared to helis. Hit the throttle and go! You do use Spektrum right? You can get a nice BNF for under $150 ready to go. Any Cub is a great choice if trainer, stay away from anything sport type. You want something with dihedral and forgiving for a first plane.

Any high wing plane would be fine, I imagine you are looking at a small electric. I flew nitro from 40 size to large scale they are a lot of fun, but strictly helicopters now.

if you can fly a heli you should have no problem flying a parkzone t28. its bnf and fly awesome. I actually won a funfly contest made up of 6 events flying one against all nitro planes at my local club. My buddy bought one for his first plane and he was only a heli guy and had no problem licking it up and flying it the first time. it uses 3s 2200 packs so the same thing you run in your 450 and spare parts can be bought at any hobby shop. trust me you will love it. we did fpv and combat with ours as well. did I mention it flys great hehe. get you a plane man so when seff rolls around you can fly planes too. I will come up with some more ideas. btw I want a scale heli prety bad now too. never been interested in them before but for some reason I have been thinking about building a big md500 (just because it would be easy)

Welcome to your new found addition Evil ;D Thats where my name "crmodels" came from. I used to design and sell flying wings like 5 years ago. Did it for fun for about a year. I'd say buy the SkyFly Max!!!! It is a fun aerobatic plane yet I can fly mine around like a lamb or do full throttle climb outs like a lion. That's what I did all my aerial photography with. BUY IT!!!

Any high wing would do. Just a personal opinion but I have started people out with a Cessna 182. There are all kinds out there from arf to rtf. Most of them are reasonably cheap too. A lot of times you can buy a rtf for around $150.00. Just put in your own receiver & have fun!

The SkyFly Max looks like the ideal one to start with. High wing and pusher motor so you can't damage the prop/motor on hard landings. Might get one myself!

Being into helis makes you a better plank pilot (I find myself using all 4 of my thumbs all the times with planks now). Dr. Evil, I recommend nothing fancier than the ParkZone T-28 for a first time plane since you have the heli skills. Let me know what you get and if you want some buddy box help. I've got a Spek to Spek cord now.
