Hey all! I have a question I'm sure I've heard the answer to a number of times, but I guess I'm having a senior moment. I wonder what your opions would be about putting slower cyclic servos on a heli would be? I always use fast servos on my helis, but I've been thinking about the wisdom of that (in my case lately). I do not fly 3D so I've been wondering about slowing down cyclic speed for some reason. Don't really know why. Probably a little cabin fever setting in!!LOL Any thoughts on slower cyclic servos will be welcome. Thanks

slower cyclics arent bad at all. if your doing slow circuits and sport flying your fine. but if you start getting close to the ground you want the extra speed. and slower servos dont help if you want that connection feel with the helicopter. Kinda like a echo

I may be wrong but I think you can achieve the same slowers feel by adjusting the expo?

+1 Dr. Evil. I did the same thing. The nice thing about some radios, you can lower the expo to suit your learning curve, then dail it up later on. Thats where I'm at now, especially with the 450 size heli. They can be a handfull while building up confidence. And since you already bought the servos, no sense in buying more and go thru the process of setting everything up again. Like turning down the tail servo expo while learning figure 8's.

adjusting expo only makes it softer in the center. still the same speed.

Yeah, I remembered that after I posted. Like I said; just a braindead moment. I've been flyin' rc aircraft for more than 20 years. I always just used the fastest servos. I like the confident feeling of the speed being there. I just do sport and scale. No interest in 3D. I can do it on the sims and like watching it but it's not for me. I use a 9503 so adjusting expo and some other things isn't a problem. Thanks for the input gusy. I guess it was just something to think about on a cold winter night.

on some of my more tame birds im using .16sec on cylic as compaired to the .08 on my 600/700. My style of flying at the moment I cannot really tell. You can tame down your existing setup by setting dual rates. I think i was using 70% when I was learning to fly the 450.

Thanks for all the input guys. Just always been told faster is better. Can't always see it for scale and sport flying, IMHO. AND my family keeps buying me all these servos with slower speeds even after I tell them what I want. They make cool stocking stuffers kind of thing. Just tossing around ideas to put 'em to use.

One important thing here that Noone has asked is are you using flybar or flybarless? With the flybar speed is not as important for tame flying. If using flybarless faster and accurate servos are very important whether scale, mild flyig or hard 3d. It's a must for the best response from the flybarless unit.

Hi, James V, at the moment flybar. I know from a LOT of reading that fbl requires fast servos.
