YES...The Chaos 550 is just about to be released. Here is a couple pics to fill your Chaos fix. The wait is about to be over as the first shippment will arrive to RCA in 3-4 weeks. As a registered "Chaos Lounge" forum member, you will have priority over others to place an order for this long awaited heli. So if you havn't registered, what are you waiting for? The canopy shown in the photo will not be the final design. Also shown is their all new FBL head along with an exclusive new 3 axis gyro that will most likely to be included in the kits. More details will be available soon about combo kits and what will be included as well as pricing, so stay tune to this thread and check back often.

Welcome khogan, yes most likely you will receive a pm or an email with a special code which you will use when making the purchase at checkout. There will be some sort of a presale for everyone who is a member here at the lounge.

The count down has started...shouldn't be much longer. I know its worth the wait!
As of the 10th of Nov., it was said to be available anywhere in 3-4 weeks give or take. The latest news on it as far as I know is that the first shippment has arrived with a limited amount available but a few parts was not correct in the kits. That said, these replacement parts are on their way now and once they reach RCA...the kits will be available for sale to all lounge memebers first. As for a price, someone recently has received an email from RCA stating that it will be around in the mid $200s. I am speculating that it'll be in the mid to higher $200s. I do know that a combo kit will be available as well, so there will be lots of options for sure. Stay tune to this thread as more info. becomes available.

Very nice. Does anyone know if the parts on the Chaos 550 will be compatible with a Trex 550? If someone was to have a Trex 550, it would be nice to be able to move parts between the two to keep them flying.

I am 99.9% sure they are compatible, all except for the head ofcause as that is not a Trex head.

That's what I was thinking too. As we get a little better and not crashing so much at our local field we are looking for a better heli than the 450s. The 550s use standard size servos, have a bigger presence, and don't use too many or too big of batteries so this may become our new "go-to" heli. Having compatibility with the Trex means we can source the bast parts at the best prices and use them on all the helis. I think this new Chaos will be popular.

LOL....all in good time my friend....I know I keep saying "it won't be long now" but in all honestly...it really won't be much longer. Give or take in a couple of weeks. As far as cost goes, it'll be right around $300 or just south of that. It will be available to Chaos Lounge members first, sort of a "pre-sale" if you will. Options will include FBL and combo kits. Hang in there everyone!

Can you give anymore detail about this? right around 300 for what exactly, a bare bones kit? Does it come with blades at this price? I ask this question to RC Aerodyne and was looking for a kit without electronics. All RC Aerodyne's kits come with blades so I would assume this one will too. For comparison, the 600 starts at $300 for a kit (includes a gyro too): www.scaleflying.com/Chaos-600-Pro-Kit--Torque-Tube--Includes-FREE-Nano-Gyro_p_1315.html. The 550 is a little smaller but has a FBL head. I would guess that the 550 kit will be very close to the 600 as far as what is included in the kit.

Yes, just as said by Chumley...the 550 is much like the 600. Along with it's new FBL head, all the standard parts includes carbon fiber main/tail blades, aircraft grade aluminum metal parts, triple main bearing blocks, carbon fiber tail boom, carbon fiber tail pushrod, thicker and wider spaced main frame to support all the extra power you can stuff into it w/o any modifications.
