The other 700 Jet Ranger thread doesn't really address my questions so I'm opening a new thread.
My goal? I want to build a big Jet Ranger and RC Aerodyne seems to have one of the few and probably the best solution out there. But I've got SO many questions about what to buy. My best guess at a parts list is as follows:
Fuselage - Bell 206 Jet Ranger Black/Red/White (TF206BSR7)
Interior - Cockpit (KF206CPT7)
Mechanics - Chaos 600 Pro Limited Edition Flybarless Kit - Torque Tube (PT6EFBL)
Scale head - Bell 206 Jet Ranger / Long Ranger Scale Rotorhead (SM2B2066)
Tail boom - Tail boom & torque tube extension kit to stretch 600 to a 700 size ( )
Motor - Scorpion HK 4025-1100kv HK4025-1100KV ( )
Speed Ctrl - Castle Creations ( )
BEC - CASTLE CREATIONS BEC SWITCHING REGULATOR
Servos - 3x Align DS1009 Digital servos MKS-DS1009
& 1x Align DS1210 Digital servos MKS-DS1210
But there are tons of questions - in no particular order
#1 - The black/red/white Bell 206 has be out of stock since sometime last year. I'm not a big fan of the other color schemes. Does anyone think the black/red/white will ever be back in stock?
#2 - Is the KF206B7 206 a plain unpainted Fuselage? Worst case, I can paint the thing myself.
#3 - Why the KF206CPT7 cockpit and not the PHJR700PRO or the PHJR700HEA cockpits? There are 3 Bell 206 cockpits but it's not clear the differences between them.
#4 - If I go with either the PHJR700PRO or the PHJR700HEA cockpits, which seats should I use?
#5 - It appears that the mechanics will be visible from the back windows. I've seen folks black out the back windows, I assume, for that very reason. Am I right?
#6 - The tail boom appears to be the thorny issue. The RC Aerodyne site advocates using 600 mechanics with the 700 fuselage but there appears to be no off the shelf solution for the tail boom. I can't even find any documentation that talks to how to address the situation. This seems like a big gap to me. What's the deal?
#7 - What size blades should be used?
For the questions below I know you're going to want to know what battery solution I'm looking at. I've got a bunch of 6S batteries around here for other helis. I'd like to go either 6S or 12S so I can use the same batteries as my other helis. But I don't know how tough it will be to stuff two 6S cells into this beast. I don't know if I can make this whole mess work with a 6S pack.
#8 - This heli will only see light duty flight. Should I focus on a 6S solution? If so, what capacity packs?
#9 - How would I go about picking a motor other than a Scorpion?
#10 - What pinion and main gears are included in Chaos kit? Are there others available if I choose to go with a different motor?
#11 - I was initially looking at a 120A speed controller but I don't think I need one that big? Suggestions?
I know where's other stuff that needs to go into this solution but I've got that stuff under control.
I feel as though I'm missing something. This isn't my first heli. How can I end up with so many unanswered questions? There must be some documentation somewhere that I haven't found. Anyway, any help you folks can provide will go a long way toward helping me spend some money with RC Aerodyne.
Thanks,
Bill
