Hey gang, I need your help in recreating a Chaos helicopter in 3D. I'm a graphic designer and I use a program called Sketchup PRO 2013 for 3D modeling, some of you may be familiar with it. I recently got bit by the RC helicopter bug and now like most of you I'm hooked. Because Sketchup can get very precise and models made to scale this is where I could use your help. Of course having a helicopter in front of me would be the best way to recreate this, I have to go by pictures and most of all your inputs to help me out. I have one of those HeliMax AXE 100SSL and started creating that in Sketchup and here are a few samples of what I've done so far. I started this because I wanted to see if I could design different canopies that could fit the main frame of the copter. I have some real cool ideas I wanted to test and this is the way to see it for clearance and for over all structural design. I have a passion for design and engineering and I'm doing this for myself so I hope I'm not stepping on any ones toes on this request. If Chaos or RC Aerodyne feels that I may be crossing a line please let me know and I'll be happy to drop the request. Here is something I did a few years ago. It's just a concept bike I did in Sketchup then rendered in Kerkythea. Hope you like it and thank in advance for all you help. Scooby

Wow I really dig the bike. Looks like a Dodge viper engine, centre hub steering with hubless rims. Nice work you have the talent.

Thank you Valkman, the bike was a very fun project I did. I like looking at thing in a different light and just going for it. Case in point... I'd love to see a fully decked out Chaos 600 that looked like these design samples I've been researching. Which one do you like? Props to the design team behind these cool concept. Just imagine.

First off, welcome to the Lounge Scooby. So...let me know if I am understanding you correctly, are you asking for a Chaos 600 to be sent to you so you can use it in your project? If so, maybe the best way to fulfill your request would be to contact Cliff directly at RCA and tell me and perhaps show him some of these samples you've shown here so he can make that decision. Good luck.
The pics. are awesome btw....

Thank you Dr.Evil for the warm welcome.
That would be very cool but not really necessary sir. My request from the community for this project would only be stuff like how thick the frame would be or how long the blades are. Also some images of parts viewed from the top, side, front and back if the need arises. The program I use can get very accurate so accurate measurement inputs equals very accurate model. That is why I said that if I had a sample in front of me would be the bomb because I could do all the measurements on the spot and it makes for happy 3D modeling. But not entirely necessary, I done some projects just based on pictures and I could get very close to the original.
The heli you see above is an excellent example of that. I took this little guy apart and measured each part and that evolved into a very cool work in progress.
This is just me giving back to a the community. Thank you sir for the advise to contact Cliff at RCA I'll follow up on that soon. If you or anyone else have any questions I'll be here.

Well let's start this party K. After looking around I have found some good pics right here in the forum (thanks for posting them guys), but so far the best was from the PDF file I downloaded from the RCA site. Most of the drawing were at an angle that I couldn't use but I did find these (see pic below). This is a big help and I was able to dial in the scale off of the fly-bar dimensions. A real big help would be if anyone out their can give me the answer to questions a., b., and c. located far left image. Thank you. scoob

I will try and get those measurements for ya but currently my Chaos 600 is stuffed inside my Airwolf fuse so it may take alittle time before I can help. Meanwhile, hopefully someone else on here can help you out a little quicker than I.

Your the man Dr.E, no big rush take your time. BTW your Airwolf ....no words bro, love it. If you guys own a caliper taking measurement with it would really make the model that much more accurate. If you don't happen to have one just do your best and I'll give you all some scooby snack later. Those of you that may have some clear close up shots of some parts please post them here they will be a big help. I'll put together some tips on how I take my photos for this kind of project and will share them with you shortly. I'm done with the main canopy of that AXE100. Just need to do some fine tuning, here are a few shots hope you like them.

Thanks Dr.E, now I just got to finish the propeller unit.
Here is something I found that's really cool. Note this was in 2011 but cool never the less....
