I'm just starting to put together a Chaos 600e Limited Edition Combo kit. I've been flying RC for many years, but just started flying helis, so I only do basic flying and some mild aerobatics for now. I was wondering how the combo kit electronics are working. Eventually, I will upgrade the electronic parts, but for now is there anything I should be concerned about flying the included electronics (servos, motor, esc)?

They're pretty good. here are the specs for the servos. THey were posted in another forum.
DS601m *Cyclic* Digital Operating Voltage: 4.8-6 Operating Speed : 0.09sec/60° Stall Torque : 7.7 kg.cm Gear Type: Metal geared Weight: 57.4g Dimensions: 40.2*20.1*42.7 mm
DS602m *Tail Servo Digital Operating Voltage: 4.8-6 Operating Speed : 0.07sec/60° Stall Torque : 4.7 kg.cm Gear Type: Metal geared Weight: 57.4g Dimensions: 40.2*20.1*42.7 mm

in terms of the motor, thats pretty good too and it has plenty of power. It feels as light as my 450 with that motor in it. And so far, the ESC doesn't feel hot at all.

helicub81,
So - you are running all the stock gear? I've seen the specs on the servos, but they seems much slower than the specs suggest they should be. As long as the heli flys fine, I really don't care about the namebrand or specs of the equipment. How is the gyro? I'm no 3D animal so I can go with lesser equipment right now, just don't want to ball up the heli flying around and doing mild flips.

OK, got all the electronics hooked up and adjusted. The servos certainly seem fast and strong enough and the gyro looks very nice and programmed up just like its suppose to. The motor and esc worked fine as well but we only ran it up on a 3S pack without blades to set up the esc and to check the rotating assemblies. The frame is wider than the Trex550 and the motor just fits, so I assuming from the size of the can that this motor will be more than enough for me. I was skeptical at first but I've been impressed so far. Hopefully this stuff will fly the heli as well as it appears it will.

Ya, I am running all of the stock gear. to be honest, it feels as light as my 450. um.. I don't do massive 3d either, but I can do inverted etc... and the other day, i was fliping it and it flipped real fast, so like the servos seem to be fast. I'm using the pinion with the greater number of teeth btw.

Not only is our 600 frame wider than the Trex 550, its also wider than the Trex 600esp as well allowing the Chaos to stuff in even a bigger motor if so desired. Thats the beauty of our bird. Let us know how you're liking your Chaos. Post some pics. or video of your flights if you can.

I'm going to start with the smaller pinion gear as I'm just starting out in helis. My main gear is a little out of round so I ordered a new one and a couple canopy bumpers to see if I can't gain some extra room around the main gear. I should be able to maiden it next weekend and will get some pics. As I'm just starting out, no one will want to see a video of my flying. Thanks all for the feedback on the electronics.

Chumley, FYI...if your canopy is hitting/touching the main gears once installed. All you have to do is take the canopy off, put something like newspaper or whatever inside the canopy just to spread it apart abit (not too much, just enough to clear the main gears) and use a hair dryer to heat the inside of the canopy up to basically re-shape it so that it becomes wider to fit and not touch the main gears. I had to do that on mine, I don't think adding extra gromets will help. As for the slight wobble on your main gear, mine has that too and I was told it was ok unless yours is more like a ruffle's potato chip then you may want to get a new one. Mine has just a slight wobble in it and it works fine, I know of few other people who has the same issue and they havn't any problems yet. As long as the main gear makes full contact w/ the pinion as its spinning, you'll be ok. Thought I mention these things before you go and spend money you may not need to. Hope this helps......

I bought my kit from someone else and it was already started so I'm not sure if a few pieces are missing. I don't have the rubber canopy spaces that are included here: www.scaleflying.com/Canopy-Support-_p_1623.htmlSo I ordered this part to get the bumpers. Also ordered the canopy clip listed under the 600N parts. Right now the canopy is just sitting on the two posts so I'm afraid it will rattle too much and hit the main gear. Once I get the bumpers and clip in, I'll see if I need to heat the canopy for extra clearance. My main gear doesn't really wobble - I'm more concerned about the mesh with the pinion. I've adjusted it so its as tight as I can stand on one side and not too loose on the other. I could fly it like this but over the long term the loose side is a potential failure point so I added some new gears to my RC Aerodyne order. Thanks for all your inputs, I've been reading as much as I can find but have lots more to learn.

Hi guys, On the narrow canopy issue I stuffed old rags in mine to spread it out then set it out on my deck in the sunshine for 2 or 3 hours and that solved the problem.

Oh yea, I have the v2 kit with the skull on the canopy (very cooool) and I did not get those canopy support parts with mine.

yeah...let us know cause I don't know anything about those canopy clips your talking about. I never had any clips in my kit nor there any place for the clip to be placed on the canopy post... The only clips that came in my kit is the Chaos 700.
