I don't remember who said it but if you are going with a warbird pick one with tricycle landing gear. They are easier to land, generally have a LITTLE more ground clearance for the prop, & CG issues are not so big a matter. That said I will still stick with the statement I made about the PZ Corsair. I have one fly it regularly & it is a very forgiving taildragger. Also there are a number of smaller foamy F4U models out there that are a great choice for someone just getting into warplanes. +1 Dr. Evil on foamys being way easier to repair. Of course this is only my opinion. Doc, so...you have a PZ Corsair and like it? Thats awesome! In your opinion, is it harder to fly as far as take offs and landings vs. other warbirds or planes in general? I am just wondering, tyring to figure out what I've found out per my last post to be true from info. that was brought to my attention. That said, I just placed an order for the FMS Corsair. It's has a 1430mm wingspan, I will use this bird along with the P51 to get comfortable and better my skills so I can one day get the balsa version.

typically the shorter the nose on the bird, the more squirrely it tends to be on the ground. From what I've heard from long term modelers, this is the reason Top Flite modeled the FW 190D, the D model has a longer nose.

Dr. Evil in my opioion the corsair is MAYBE a little harder than some taildraggers on takeoff. Landings I find to be smooth and easy. The sole problem I found with warbirds is a noseover on landing if you try to stop too short. Warbirds are my personal favorite, & with 40 years of flying I have tossed a lot of them around. I also think you will find the foamys a little more forgiving. Like I said on landings my PZ Corsair seems to be able to float forever. It gives me some of the slowest, smoothest landings of all my birds except my little Cessna. Have fun on your build & enjoy the hell out of it!!!
