Bit by bit man. Bit by bit. It's taking a lot of research, time and money! Yep, take your time...the research is the fun part to me. That's why I am taking my time on my Airwolf. Swapping out many of the stock stuff and doing some mods here and there to make it my own.

The motor I am going to use is the Turnigy SK3 480kv from hobbyking along with a KDE main gear 115 teeth mode 1 with 11 tooth pinion on the motor. This should give me around 1850 head speed with the 690 blades. This motor gets very good reviews and lots are saying it is better than a Scorpion motor. I will be using the hobby king YEP 120A HV ESC which also gets amazing reviews. This ESC is on BO but I have a bit to do before I need it anyway. This is not a rush project and I am only spending time here and there on it.

I finally got to fly the stretched birds today. I was a long time waiting on the ESC but it looks like it was worth the wait. I still have a bit more tweaking to do and more test flights to try out different head speeds and pinion sizes etc before I strap the camera rig onto it.

That rotor diameter is massive! I can't wait to get my 700 airborne in spring!

Thanks guys. I have to say I was impressed at how it went. There is a big difference between the 6 and 7. I can only imagine how solid it would be with a good FBL system and GPS. I won't get a chance to get near it for at least a few days to try different timing etc on the motor. After that flight the motor was just a little warm and the ESC was stone cold. The motor also seemed to have bags of power. I think I will order up a 10t pinion to reduce the HS a bit to get better flight times. Some are flying their 12s AP rigs at 1200 rpm and getting over 15mins flying! I don't think I will go that low. Maybe 1500. My new canon printer arrived so I can print of my own stuff which will be handy.

I love the sound of it, I wish I wasn't so scared of flying mine Anyone with experience want to come to Iroquois and maiden my 600 One question, I know you made a camera mount for it, but did you compensate for the slight tilt that these get while flying? Or does it even make a difference? Looking forward to seeing the first pictures that come off of the setup

George if you liked the sound of the 600 you will love the 7. If I lived near you I would gladly get your 600 maidoned. The batteries will be going at the rear that's why I made extra braces on the rear boom. I done a rough balance act a while back with the gimbal on it and it balanced perfect. I might be able to put the batteries right up near the rear frame and leave the rear servo where it is. My plan is to get a few flight on it first to set up and make sure everything is OK then put the gimbal with a weigh on it instead of the camera and maidon that. How exactly I mount the batteries I will figure out later. I may put them length ways between the bottom supports and make a carbon box with foam inside but as I said I will figure that one out when I come to it. I spent a hell of a lot of time up to now and it was nice to get the quick flight on it to see some fruits of my labour....and money! I still have to buy another "set" of batteries so that's more money!
