Well I've decided guys, after actually getting to fly a plane this past weekend @ SEFF...I am going with a Dynam T-28 Trojan. Marvin was brave enough and allow me to take over once he took it up in the air for me to have a few mintues of stick time...well that all it took so now I am hooked and need one...LOL. Rcdude07, I looked into the "parkzone t28" and I believe these two are basiclly the same planes so for the difference of $5...I think I will go with the bigger Dynam version. Again, thanks for everyone's help on this. www.nitroplanes.com/60a-dy8940-t28-red-arf.html

Yeah, thanks guys....I can't wait. I never thought I would even consider a "plank" (haha..a new term for me). I tell ya, having never flew a plane before other than on the sim..it was really cool to do it in real life. Like I said, all it took was that one time and now I want one...LOL.

Cool beans. I personally like the white CS for the T-28. But then again, every nitro plank I've had, and have, are white based, so I'm biased.

I usually hit the field about once a month on a Friday after work, if I'm lucky. But haven't gotten out there yet this year. Not sure when I will next now that we have a newborn. I have an empty lot on the street I live in that I throw ultra micros up in, and my yard is big enough that I fly ultra micros and hover my helis in it as well. I did go to Dix once back in November, wife had something happening near there so I killed some time. If you work out near Morrisville, we may be able to do something during lunch one day, Morrisville Community Park is a nice place to fly ultra micros and park flyers. I did that for about a year and a half when I lived there (back porch looked out at the park) and the only thing I had was my micro.

OK...I may have to correct myself here....so looks like the difference of that $5 I mentioned between a ParkZone and the bigger Dynam version is that the ParkZone T-28 at that price range is a "micro". The bigger T-28 by ParkZone is priced at $179 (pnp) and $239 (bnf) and still the Dynam version is bigger at a lower cost. I been told the Dynam is less foregiven after a crash were as the ParkZone is made of a better material minus retracts which also means less parts to break after a crash. Being that this is my first plane, what do you guys think? T28 (Dynam)plus Bigger...Cost less ($105)...Retracts (but could be bad if damaged from a crash) minus Cheaper material T28 (ParkZone)plus Better material???...Parts replacement (less to break w/o retrats?) minus Smaller...Higher cost ($179) Any inputs guys? Thanks......

Go with the Parkzone brotha. Quality models and parts are easy to get. Plus ( from first hand experience) horizon stands behind their products if there is ever a manufactures defect. Just my 2cents but I have had many and love them!

ParkZone hands down since it's more resilient and parts are available at all LHS. Many guys at the field have successfully had this one as their first or second plane.
At one point the white Navy CS was discontinued and the only option was a grey Air Force CS. Can't remember if the brought the white Navy back.

Ok....cool guys...thanks, now the only other question is go with the micro or the standard size if $ wasn't an issue?

Go standard because you are new to planks and it will be more forgiving! Ok gotta go hop on a jet, ttyl buddy

Another thing, don;t do retracts on your first plane. Unless you just have some amazing sixth or seventh sense, it will take you many landings and attempts until you are able to grease her in every single time.
Go standard. I got to fly my dad's UM T-28 last weekend for the first time. It does fly well, but for a micro it has plenty of speed, even on dual rates the ailerons seemed a little low for my taste. The UM was developed before the AS3X technology, so it's harder to fly the UM than the standard size one.
